This actually is the best time to get a credit card in the economy since credit card companies are making it harder and harder for those with no previous credit ratings to get a card right now. I made many of these mistakes my first year. If you go home every weekend you'll only get more homesick but when you don't you slowly get over it. Also, it's pretty impossible to read every single word of the chapters assigned, at least if you're a slow reader like me. You'll figure out quickly which classes it's important for and which don't matter.
