College Q&A: Balancing Friendships

Got some college questions? Unsure of a decision? Need help managing those dreaded group projects? Just wanna chat it up with some really awesome chics? We’ve got the girls for you. Hit them up in the comments or shoot them an email with the subject “College Q&A”! They’ve got all the answers you need, no matter who you are.

Question:
So I’m a sophomore and I’m living in my sorority house. I’m having the best time – there’s always someone to hang out with here and there’s always something going on. The problem is that my non sorority friends have been getting mad at me for not hanging out with them. It’s not that I don’t want to – it’s just that they live all the way across campus and I don’t have as much time to see them as I did when we lived on the same floor. I feel really torn and don’t know what to do. If I stay at my sorority house, I miss out on times with my other friends. But if I hang out with them (when I find time), I’m missing out on something at the house.

Can you help me find a balance? Read More »

College Candy Recap: Vancouver’s Big Winners

Last night, the Vancouver Winter Olympics ended with a flourish–including comedy from William Shatner, performances by Avril Lavigne and Nickelback, and yes, giant inflatable beavers. With the Olympic flame extinguished, and dreams of Sochi 2014 barely blooming, let’s take a look at Vancouver’s biggest winners.

Canada
The Canadians accomplished their two most important goals in Vancouver: to bring home gold, and specifically to win the men’s hockey competition on home soil. Alexandre Bilodeau broke the Canadian gold-medal draught with his win in moguls skiing early in the Games. But perhaps the single most important event in Canadian history was their win in the gold-medal hockey game over arch-rival the United States. In a nail-biting sudden death overtime, the Canadians broke through with the win and fulfilled the dreams of everyone young and old  in the hockey-obsessed nation. (Editor’s Note: And their hockey team is pretty damn hot.) And as if that weren’t enough, Canada walks away with the most gold medals–14–ever won by a single nation in the Winter Olympics. Body Blog: Physique 57, My Secret Workout Weapon

OK her belly button is scary, but look at those muscles!

My morning ritual consists of a tall cup of coffee, a scroll through the New York Times and turning on the first ten minutes of Live with Regis and Kelly to see what Kelly Ripa is wearing for the day.

Or, more realistically, how hot and toned she looks in whatever she’s wearing for the day.

It was hard not to notice Kelly Ripa whip herself into the best shape of her life almost instantly two years ago. She had always looked good, but suddenly her body looked insane. In a good way. I wanted to know her secrets. I longed for the formula to her suddenly sculpted arms and her six pack abs. Every time I saw her on the cover of a magazine, I scooped it up, hoping to solve the mystery to Kelly’s perfect bod.

And then I discovered it: Physique 57.

Just six months ago, this 57-minute routine could only be found on 57th street in New York City for nearly $30 a class. This summer, though, the creators of this intense body weight training workout released three DVDs: the classic 57-minute workout, the 30-minute full body express and the abs and arms booster. Obviously, trusting Ripa’s testimonies, I immediately coughed up the cash. Three days later, I was sweating, burning, and working my way to my very own Kelly Ripa body. Read More »

Spring Break-it Somewhere Other Than The Beach

Spring break, a week most college students spend on the beach during the day and in the bars at night. While this is always fun, sometimes it is nice to get away from the ordinary and try something different. Having trouble brainstorming a spring break that doesn’t involve bonging Mexican beers on a beach? We’ve got you covered!

Skiing – Get away from the crowds, and hit the slopes! You can be active during the day and snuggle up with a cute snowboarder in a cabin next to a fire during the night. If you’re worried about coming back from break paler than when you left, that’s what spray tans are for! It’s safer for your skin anyways.

Camping – Picture this: tubing down a river with a cold beer in hand. Some camp sites even have hot tubs and activities at night. I have been to a camp site where I got to set up my tent near a waterfall. There were running showers and live music at night. If that is too “fluffy” for you, there are tons of camp sites without running water. Assateague, Maryland is an island of wild horses which I have personally camped on, and went an entire week with no running water but obviously, the ocean. If this is more your style, check out local camp sites, you’ll be surprised how many you’ll find.

The Weekly Ten: Why Canada Deserves the Silver

Every week, I provide you with a list. No, not a grocery list, to-do list or even a bucket list like our friends over at “The Buried Life.” It’s simply a list of ten things that are relevant, whether it’s to my life (like living with dudes), your life (packing on the poundage), or something that the media just won’t shut up about (COUGH Tiger Woods COUGH).

Yesterday, after going through the multiple heart attacks during the USA/Canada gold medal hockey game (that the USA took into overtime in the last 24 seconds of the game!!), I began to think of all the ways that America is far superior to our upstairs neighbor. You know, since we proved that hockey wasn’t one of them. And I was bitter. And angry. And inhaling a tube of cookie dough to cool down….

Okay Canada, you may have taken the gold in hockey, have national healthcare, legal drinking at 18 and some pretty awesome strip clubs night clubs. Now let me just give you ten golden reason why America is much, much better than our hat. Read More »
