[There are over 100 million sites on the Internet. 100 million! You might think you know about all the important ones (CollegeCandy, Gmail, Google, TFLN…), but there are thousands of other sweet sites out there (like ThredUP, Blah Therapy and Life is Beautiful) and more showing up every day! We get it – it’s not easy or fun sifting through the crap and porn to find those gems, so we’re gonna bring the gems to you. Just sit back, kick up those feet and allow us to introduce you to the diamonds in the internet rough.]
Summer is finally here for most colleges, and I know I’m not the only one celebrating. I love having the summer off to hang out with my friends, go to the beach, and not have to worry about having to wake up on time for class. Even though I love having time off, however, I feel like I should put some of that free time to better use than just lounging and drinking—like learning a new language!
I’m not talking about spending your time and money on summer school, your local community college, or Rosetta Stone—I’m talking about Livemocha. Livemocha is a website that offers beginning, intermediate, and travel online courses for over 30 languages (for free)! The lessons offer instruction in reading, writing, and speaking, which are evaluated by fellow Livemocha users who speak the language you’re learning.
What’s also really great about Livemocha is that you can learn at your own pace. If you took a language class in school, you’d have a couple classes a week, plus homework and test to study for. On Livemocha, however, how often you work on a lesson is completely up to you, so the pace at which you learn is completely up to you.
So since you don’t have any other classes to get in the way and you can work on it whenever you can, Summer is the perfect time to give LiveMocha a try!

I've been using livemocha for years now and it's great. I just wish they would expand their language selection more often.

Thank you so much for posting this! I've been looking for a good (free) way to improve my Italian and this sounds wonderful! Can't believe I never stumbled upon it in all my googling…
