10 Hottie Vampires That Paved the Way for Edward Cullen
June 28, 2010 12:00 pm Posted in Buzz, Entertainment, HaHa Sarabeth - University of Texas g+ page

In case you’ve been hiding under a rock these past few weeks and haven’t heard the shrieks of 8-year-old girls and 45-year-old women everywhere, Eclipse is coming out in two days. Yes, on Wednesday we will have yet another opportunity to watch Bella get herself into trouble that requires her two loves to come and save her.
AKA watch two sexy shirtless men run around for an hour and a half.
While Taylor Lautner is the most likely the sexiest werewolf in history (seriously, go watch a werewolf movie; his only competition is Michael J. Fox in Teen Wolf), Robert Pattinson is far from the hottest vampire. Sexy vampires have been around for years leaving women weak in the knees and wishing one would stand over their beds in the night and take a little bite out of their necks.
Yeah, Edward is a fine piece of vampire meat, but he’s got nothing on these 10 blood-sucking hotties. These guys are delicious enough (in a looks sorta way, not a tasty blood sorta way) that even the most staunch Team Jacob fanatics might consider switching allegiances.
Jason Patric as Michael Emerson in The Lost Boys.

Jason was steaming up movie screens before I was even born, but that doesn’t mean I can’t appreciate his brooding eyes and sexy bod performance nowadays. He started and ended a human, but for a solid hour he was one of the first drool-worthy vampires out there, setting the stage for the sexy that was to come.
Kiefer Sutherland as David in The Lost Boys

(OK, for this one you have to look past the mullet. It was the ’80s – he has an excuse.) While Jason Patric was running around trying to become human, Kiefer here was the (hottie) bad boy gang leader terrorizing town. Seriously, who doesn’t love a bad boy, especially when he also happens to be a vampire…and Kiefer Sutherland? Sadly, he had to die in the end, but he sure looked good vamping it up for the rest of the movie.
Wesley Snipes as Blade in Blade

From the comic book of the same name, Wesley Snipes showed up on screen as Blade, the half vampire with a soul (awwww) who just so happens to hunt (less fortunate looking) vampires. Guys loved to watch him kick butt, and girls just liked watching his…well, you see where I’m going with this?
Ian Somerhalder as Damon Salvatore in The Vampire Diaries

While 13-year-old girls are fawning over him in CW’s The Vampire Diaries, Ian Somerhalder will always be the sexy yet somewhat useless Boone from Lost to me. However, I must admit, if he wants to take a chunk out of my neck, come to mama, Damon Salvatore.
Brad Pitt as Louis in Interview with a Vampire

While he started off trying to stick to a “vegetarian” diet, Louis here gave in to his dark side and women everywhere were perfectly OK with that. He’s a young Brad Pitt…biting people’s necks. Need I say more?
Stuart Townsend as Lestat in Queen of the Damned

Stuart Townsend replaced Tom Cruise in The Vampire Chronicles franchise and may I say, good choice Hollywood execs! He’s got eyes that can make a woman melt and can somehow manage to pull off greasy vampire hair unlike anyone else. I’d like to see Tommy Cruise do that.
Alexander Skarsgard as Eric Northman in True Blood

With the return of Twilight, I couldn’t possibly ignore the return of True Blood. Bon Temp’s resident Scandinavian has been melting our hearts for the past 2 seasons, and we can only wait to see more in season 3.
James Marsters as Spike in Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Oh Spike. You were probably the baddest and most disturbing vampires around (he earned his nickname by torturing his victims with railroad spikes), but I could easily look past that the moment you opened your mouth thanks to your British accent and your dark, witty remarks. That chiseled face didn’t hurt either.
Stephen Moyer as Bill Compton on True Blood

Bill here has been looking this damn good since right after the Civil War, which makes Sookie one hell of a lucky girl. Who knew Vampires could rock the tight t-shirts so well? Or the sexy, floppy hair? Mmmm.
David Boreanaz as Angel in Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Angel, the vampire so freakin good looking he went from a two episode guest spot to having his own show. From the initial swoon when he first walked on screen, to his triumphant last hurrah, David made the “Vampire with a soul” thing look GOOD. Really good.

Mm, Ian Somerhalder. I ALWAYS loved him as Boone, and no one else understood. He was kind of an idiot, sure, but…look at him!
Oh, and David Boreanaz. I may or may not have begun watching Bones as an attempt to bring him back into my TV life. And it definitely worked. Believe me – there's something very sexy about his man-in-charge FBI agent solving murders.

Thank you thank you THANK YOU.
Dear Lord. I've been a vampire fan since I was ten years old. And then Edward and his sparkly…. derriere popped up and suddenly we have a bunch of glitter loving girls who think Edward is their vampire god.
Lestat, Louis, Spike (OHMYGODYES)and Angel; these are all examples of vampires that absolutely made women melt long before Edward. Thanks for posting this
People seem to forget these legends have been around for a while.
Oh and as Meggurz said, where the heck is Antonio as Armand?! Talk about sex with an accent ^_^

Bailey, I completely agree. I don't watch Bones. I actually only watched 1 episode during season 1, but that was about it. My mom watches it and loves it. She thinks DB is damn good-looking. LOL I LOVE him. Always have and find him getting even sexier and more handsome as he gets older. I don't think you're alone in watching Bones to try and bring DB back into your life. I think a lot of his fans did that. LOL But, you're 100% right. I've seen clips here and there. And, there is something damn sexy about Booth's cool, FBI man-in-charge attitude.
Good list all-around. I don't watch True Blood, so I can't say anything on those choices. But, definitely agree with the choices of David Boreanaz, Ian Somerhalder, Wesley Snipes and Jason Patric. I liked Spike on BTVS from seasons 2-4, and tolerated him in season 5 of ATS, but I never found him attractive in the least. So, he's probably the only one I disagree with. I'm just not into blondes. LOL I know a lot of Spike fans found him attractive, but he just never did anything for me. And, I couldn't stand his character from season 5 of BTVS on, so that probably also has something to do with it. LOL Edward Cullen has NOTHING on these vamps.

I totally agree- where the hell is Armand? And NO ONE beats out Tom Cruise for Lestat-NO ONE.
(also, there is no way in hell Taylor Lautner is the sexiest werewolf ever-obviously, you've never seen the 1960s TV drama, Dark Shadows (movie to be released next year-ish with Johnny Depp) with Quentin Collins as a werewolf…
>.<

I 100 PERCENT agree with Ashley. No one beats Tom Cruise as Lestat!!! NO ONE.
Then Antonio Banderas as Armand…

I agree with this post. All these vampires are sexy. More importantly, they look like they can kick ass, too. They do more than sparkle

I have loved Spike from a very young age, 8 maybe?
Loved this post, vampires were sexy before Rpatz and will be long after the twilight saga has ended

This post doesn't make any sense. For something to "pave the way" for another thing, it has to come after said thing. Your list makes no sense, seeing that True Blood and Vampire Diaries came AFTER the Twilight craze.

Where is Stephen Dorff as Deacon Frost? You've got Blade, why not include the first movie's bad guy, who goes out in the sun by using sunscreen, which is probably the dorkiest and yet most sensible thing ever.

Blue BD, the books for both of those TV shows were out way BEFORE Twilight though. I'm guessing that's what they mean

I like Robert Pattinson, he's a charming and funny guy…but his character sucks.

I think Tom Cruise as Lestat should replace Stephen as Bill Compton.

Its kind of hard for Ian Somerhandler or whatever his name is to "pave" the way for Edward Cullen when Vampire Diaries came to tv way after the first Twilight was in theatres. And Jason Patric was only a half-vampire at best in Lost Boys. (But thats splitting hairs
)

Bah. These new vampires don't even belong on the same list as Angel and Spike and the Vampire Chronicles bunch, except for maybe Bill Compton from True Blood. I mean, come on! David Boreanaz's sad, soulful eyes STILL make me weak in the knees.
I think the whole franchise has kind of jumped the shark at this point, anyway. I mean, in the 90s, vampires were played by the likes of Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise–who's still pretty major as an actor, whatever you think of his religious beliefs or personality–and now they're played by bitsy little upstarts like Robert Pattinson? I mean, sure, Brad Pitt is and was droolworthy, and caused his fair share of screaming teenagers–but he can also act. Rob Pattinson is so wooden, awkward and over-the-top in the Twilight Saga films! The only thing that made New Moon a better movie than Twilight was the fact that he was barely in it.
Sorry for the rant. But give me Spike or give me death (or probably both, depending on his mood).

Brad Pitt may have been sexier than Tom Cruise in interview with a Vampire, but Tom Cruise made a better vampire, that's my favorite Tom Cruise role. And whoever mentioned Antonio Banderas is dead on, although I guess he wasn't mentioned because it was a pretty small role.

But you did forget one very sexy, smart vamp: Kyle Schmid as vampire Henry Fitzroy on the TV series Blood Ties. Did anyone else watch that? It had two seasons on the Lifetime network a few years ago right before the Twilight craze took over. He's definitely in my top 3 sexiest vampires of all time.

i have re corded every one of the MOONLIGHT show with Alex O:LOUGHLIN AND I SURE HOPE HIS NEW SHOW WILL BE A HIT , BUT I DONT THINK ANY OF THE PAST VANPIRES CAN EVEN COMPARE TO THAT YUMMY VOICE AND CURLS, THAT SMILE OF NICK ST JOHN. THEY SURE GOOFED IN CANCELLING THAT ADULT VAMPIRE SERIES——
Denise says:
Mon, 12th Jul 20103:32 pm
I have to agree Alex O'Loughlin was/is and always will be the sexiest vampire there ever was or shall be to come. Those that do not agree need eye surgery pronto. I was a huge Angel fan for David Boreanaz, even met him in person and better to look at in person but he can't even beat Alex in the role of Mick St. John. You ladies want to swoon, watch Moonlight and see why CBS blew it big time. Who wants boys when you can have a man!
Eric DiDomenico says:

I may be a guy, and everyone has a right to their opinions, so I'll speak my mind. Many of these vampire male leads are good, but with some of the female fans here, I actually liked Alex O'Loughlin's Mick St. John. I'm straight but my girlfriend and I agree Mick is the handsome male vampire to beat. Does that mean no one else's opinions count? Far from it. I'm just stating my own opinion.

Mmmmm, David Boreanaz and James Marsters. I love them.
Ian Somerholder is pretty awesome too.
Never saw the appeal of the two from True Blood though :/ Just not my type, to be honest.
Kate says:

WHY OH WHY has no one mentioned Gary Oldman as Dracula??? While Spike and Angel are by far the hottest on this list, far out-sexy-ing any of these modern vamps ("RPatz" wasn't even hot enough to play Cedric Diggory in my opinion), I must say Gary is the HOTTEST vampire ever.

BlueBD, Twilight may have been the reason for True Blood and VD being turned into tv shows but both series of books were written WAY before Twilight ever was. So, I can kind of see where them ‘paving the way’ might come from if you ever read the books. It’s just that NOW they’ve been turned into tv shows and are being portrayed by said actors.
