Remember how shocked your grandmother was when you told her you were living in coed dorms?
Well get ready to give her a heart attack, because at schools like Brandeis, students get to vote on whether they want their hall bathrooms to be single-sex or coed. We’re all for spending as much time with boys as possible, but there are some times (read: when you’re pooping) that you just don’t want the bros around.
So I gotta know:
Would you rather have single-sex bathrooms or coed bathrooms?
Things to consider: Shower “fun,” #2 (you and them), divulging all your “get ready” secrets.
As a resident of good ol’ NYC, my out-of-town friends always assume I’m living the Carrie Bradshaw life. While cosmos do indeed pour out of my sink instead of water, my bedroom doesn’t boast the revolving door of men for which SJP & Co. are famous. Sure, guys are everywhere- washing your windows in the morning, riding the subway with you in the afternoon, sleeping on your stoop at night- but selecting which ones are actually eligible for your affections is a tad tricky.
You see, everyone knows the gays love Manhattan. Don’t roll your eyes. Please, we have Broadway…this is their Mecca. And across the water we have Brooklyn, a mother ship for hipsters the world over. They come in droves, sporting their cross-body bags, boasting blasé attitudes and a taste for bands you’ve probably never heard of before. Wondering what these two groups have in common? More than you think, and it makes crushing really tough. And I know this phenomenon is spreading like wildfire from coast (Brooklyn) to coast (West Hollywood).
If you think I’m kidding, take a look below and try to figure out which of these boys would like you and which would like each other. Read More »
Who or what inspires your style? Many of us use actresses (like Taylor Momsen) or models (like Daisy Lowe)as style inspiration even though, most of the time, they are being dressed from head to toe by the best stylists.Which we don’t have. And sometimes it’s damn near impossible to work their Hollywood looks into our not-so-Hollywood lives. I’ve made it my mission to tap into the mind of a fashion stylist and show you how to take your style inspiration – whatever it may be – and make it more you!
Facial hair is physically attractive to me in every way. I’ve ended things with a guys who’ve shaved it all off (shallow biotch, I know). I’ve even made up nicknames for my man-friends based on their beard situations (i.e., Chinstrap). But one thing’s for damn sure: facial hair is a man’s game until the end.
Well, except for one well-known woman…
Besides Frida Kahlo being known for those tightly wound locks on her head, she’s also known as the only woman with a mustache and unibrow who had men and women lusting after her and her artwork. Now that’s some kind of sex appeal I will never know.
For the less informed, Frida Kahlo was a Mexican painter during the first half of the 20th century. She’s best known for her (sometimes morbid) self-portraits and being the wife of artist, Diego Rivera, which wasn’t the picture perfect marriage most girl dreams about. And her life wasn’t such a fairy tale either. Frida contracted Polio at a young age, making her right leg look thinner than her left leg; was openly bisexual and was bumpin’ uglies with men and women behind her husband’s back; and was in a serious trolley accident that severely ruined most of her body and kept her in and out of the bed for the majority of her life. Oh and let’s not forget her mustache/unibrow combo (sorry, I just can’t get over it).
Frida has a tough life – there’s no doubt about that – but despite it all, you never saw her throwin’ on a t-shirt and sweatpants and calling it a night. (Though I’m sure it also helped that they didn’t make hoodies during the 1940′s.) She had something to say, either through her paintings or her clothing, and she wanted people to know it. Read More »

I love the convenience of watching TV shows online (besides that whole “burn my thighs” thing), but it can be a hassle sometimes when the season or particular episode isn’t available on a particular site, forcing me to hunt across the internet for the show I want to watch. Which, turns out, is only available in Japanese. Luckily for me, I’ve discovered a handy site that makes everything a whole lot easier (…and in English).
Clickeris a super-extensive catalog of every TV show episode available to watch online. To use it, simply type in the name of the TV show you want to watch in the search bar (or browse the site’s multiple categories), and Clickerwill search it’s catalog of over 5,200 TV shows (and over 280,000 episodes!) from sites all over the web to take you to its Clicker profile page. Once you’re there, you simply choose the episode you want, and follow the link to watch it! Read More »
[The following post was written by dating coach, Kira Sabin, a keg of dating and relationship wisdom. She's been helping people find love for years so we thought we'd tap this keg and see what sort of brilliant advice she has for the CollegeCandy readers. Drink up!]
OK ladies, we need to have a little tough love talk today. I hate to say it but sometimes I am a little confused by my own gender. As a coach I try to remain really neutral. I truly have met some amazing single men and women who make me want to be a better person. But the stories I have been hearing lately! Yikes.
A few times I have been out with my friend G and all of a sudden his Blackberry will light up. He will look at it and then shake his head. Once again, it is a woman who had a conversation with ONE evening and now she texts him 2 or 3 nights a week. Numerous times, while I have been in his presence, asking him to grab a drink. He has never said yes, he has never led her on or to believe that he is interested. Yet still, she texts and texts and texts.
One of my other clients has been waking up to texts daily with a woman he has been out with on TWO dates. Really?
Another client was told by a woman he had been on THREE dates with that he was not trying to maul her and obviously was not interested in her. Even though he is recently out of a major relationship, had his heart broken and wanted to take it slow. True story.
This season, the G.I. Joe military inspired style is marching onto runways and blowing up clothing racks everywhere. At first (it’s hard to believe now) I was frustrated with the new bold style (totally in for fall). I have broad shoulders and let’s just say the manly military explosion does not get friendly with my curves.
However lately, with this style popping up everywhere, I’ve discovered you can easily make the military look extremely flattering! All you have to do is add a belt here or there to showcase your curves. OR throw some charms on your neck to girly-up the bold bombshell brigade sparked in your wardrobe.
I’m liking it more and more. It’s time to take a moment to be inspired by military fashions under $20. Read More »
It happens every day. You log onto Facebook and are confronted with a stream of photos and status updates. Megan’s going to the mall. Ben’s fishing with his dad. Oh, and what’s this? Chris put his dog in boxers and made it drink beer out of a Frisbee last night. Here’s hoping he isn’t friends with anyone who works for the ASPCA.
Simply put, people post dumb pictures. We tend to forget that Facebook is a public place and that often times employers, teachers, and police have access to more things than we think.
If your back-to-campus plan involves drinking, sleeping, hooking up, or any host of questionable activities, here are the pictures you’re better off keeping to yourself: Read More »
