CollegeCandy is going to FSU [Giveaway]
March 14, 2011 1:30 pm Posted in Buzz, Entertainment, Galleries Candy -- NYU g+ page

Here at CollegeCandy HQ, we looovveee college (like, duh) and therefore are trying to party it up as much as we can from our boring old NYC office. So this spring we’re bringing the show on the road. Not only are we going from campus to campus offering modern Facebook-style relationship advice, but we’re also helping you celebrate your kick-ass campus events.
First up…FSU’s premiere fashion magazine, Clutch, is throwing a launch party to celebrate their spring issue.
And we’re jumping head first into the party by co-hosting the entire shindig. So first things first, if you go to FSU, you should RSVP to the party on March 15th. Why? Not only is it a party co-hosted by yours truly, but it’s also a great opportunity to go home with some awesome swag. The first 50 guests are getting VIP gift bags that include:
- ShoeDazzle gift cards
- Campusfood.com gift cards
- CollegeCandy shot glasses
AND (there’s always more up in here), the big raffle winners are going home with:
- a CafePress custom CollegeCandy iPhone case
- a 24-inch Sceptre HDTV
- $250 to Global Fashion Brands.
Jealous that you can’t attend this party?
Don’t be too upset because every single CollegeCandy reader, regardless of where you go to school, is eligible to win an iPanda Speakal. That’s a set of iPod speakers SHAPED LIKE A PANDA. If that’s not the definition of cute and classy, than I don’t know what is. Want to win it? Here’s what you gotta do. Leave a message in the comments below that convinces us why your school is the coolest and why we should visit your campus next. Do you have the BEST spring fling carnival? The Smartest professors? The most-brochure-like quad? Whatever it is, tell us below. The contest opens now and goes until March 17th at midnight.
Check back here on Friday, March 18th, to see if you won.
And that’s not all! Shoedazzle and Global Fashion Brands are both SO excited for this party that they’re offering ALL COLLEGECANDY READERS a big discount.
-Use “GOEDU” to get 25% off at Shoedazzle

Grand Canyon University is the best!! I love the environment of this small school! On my first day here, as I walked to my classes, so many people said hi and smiled (even though we were just passing each other in the hallway). That day, I knew this school was different and I was glad I had not decided to go to my state school(it's a BIG party school). Another thing: everyone holds the door open for you (guys and girls) and there is just general courtesy that seems to be lacking in some big schools. Overall, my college has a friendly, welcoming atmosphere that I haven't found in other colleges

Although you might not think it, University of Kentucky is pretty much the best school ever! Everything about it is AMAZING! Not to mention a great basketball team and lively school spirit, Lexington has so much to offer, especially in the spring. In the spring, Keeneland a local horserace track opens and everyone tailgates and then watches the races! What could be better than boozing and betting on horse? Not much! Besides Keeneland, the night is full of places to go and things to do! There are a bunch of cute Southern boys (score!) and plenty of bourbon!!! It just might be the greatest place alive

Every May, on Mother’s Day weekend, UC Davis pays host to the Whole Earth Festival which, to put it simply, a very large hippie festival. I have never seen so much tie-dye in one place! Beyond that, there are numerous stages giving lively and passionate practices. There are rows and rows of booths for artisans to sell their craft! Super unique! Perfect place to find a gift for mom! All volunteers and staff have to undergo nonviolence to learn how to prevent and avoid unnecessary conflict. I haven’t even gotten to the best part yet–the FOOD!!!! The food is scrumptious and best of all–the event is virtually zero waste. No disposables are used and everything can either be recycled or composted! Food vendors must use the reusable wares and utensils WEF provides and let’s just say there’s a really system going since barely and event goers complain about the lack of plastic sporks. There’s just a lot of love and fun going around.
Oh, I guess there’s Picnic Day in April, too! Super big open house–chemistry magic shows, cow milking, dachschund racing, etc.
Lots of fun events and down-to-earth people. What more can you ask for?
Did I mention our university bus system uses London double-deckers?! Because we do!

Gah, typing long entries on an iPod is less than ideal. By passionate practices, I meant performances and volunteers undergo nonciolence TRAINING.
