Once a key to success, wingmen have become so commonplace (there are even books about their rules and various codes) that even the women preyed on by bros and their wingmen know their lingo and their tactics, making their hard work a big waste of time. If guys want to improve their game and up their chances of wooing a lady, they are gonna need to change up their Bro Strategy.
Enter: the Wingwoman.
Wingwomen are the future. Whereas most women are hip to the movements of wingmen, wingwomen are the stealth operation of the “game,” and the key to successful mingling between the sexes. And not just for the guy we might be wingin’ for; for ourselves, too!
For all of you skeptics out there, I have here for you, the five reasons that wingwomen rock:
1) We are better with the grenades. So let’s say that this skanky girl is chasing your guy friend around the bar and he can’t seem to shake her loose. Trying to pawn her off on one of his bros has proved futile, either because she only has eyes for him or because even they won’t take that hit. What’s a bro to do? With the wingwoman in their arsenal they need not do anything at all. She just stands near him, performs a simple neck stroke or arm-around-the-waist maneuver and that hippo knows this guy is not for the taking. Read More »
The only way to sum up last night’s episode (or the whole season, really) of Jersey Shore is by trying to figure out who was the biggest bitch of the night. It’s gonna be a toughie, but let’s try.
The Stalker
At first you’d think Pauly’s Israeli stalker would take home the bitchy trophy and the cake. Not only does this girl not get the hint, but she’s one scary bitch. The kind that makes me sort of embarrassed to be a card carrying Jewess. I don’t know who raised this chick, but someone really should tell her that asking a guy if he wants you to punch him in the face isn’t the best way to get an invite back to his love lair. Thanks for ruining my love life…biatch.
Vinny It’s hard for me to say anything mean about my future husband, but did Vinny drink the Haterade last night? Granted, his Snooki-second-best joke was funny, almost as funny as him wiping out on the kitchen floor, but it was also a low, low blow. The world likes sweet Vinny better. D-bag Vinny with the earrings = bitch. Read More »
Boys, boys, boys. Here at CollegeCandy, we love them. A lot. And being that we have a lot of time on our hands to search for them on the web, we thought we’d use it to our advantage and yours and bring you a little eye candy that not only makes us drool but also tugs at our heartstrings. So here’s your chance to meet some of the most talented guys in the world…who rock. Like, for real. (They’re musicians, people.)
Name: Louis Johnson Age: 21 Location: Wellington, FL Type of Music: Indie/Acoustic Why He Rocks: Watching Louis on My Life as Liz is pretty great, but getting to talk to him is so much better. He’s hilarious. You can find out for yourself because, lucky for you, he’s on tour right now with his band, Augustine!
How long have you been singing and playing the guitar?
I’ve been singing for my whole life. My dad’s a musician so he got me into it early. I started playing drums when I was 6… I was beating on whatever I could. Then I got a Ludwig kid set and then I kept playing drums until I was about 13 and then I started playing guitar so I could play in this band in high school called Odd Man Out. I really have been doing it my whole life.
Where are you from?
I’m from Wellington, Florida, which is a suburb of West Palm Beach. I definitely can’t complain; the beaches were perfect all the time. I spent a lot of my time there going skin boarding, where you put the little board down on the sand and then surf the waves in.
Was it always a dream of yours to turn your talent into a career?
When I was really young I wanted to be a baseball player, but other than that, I always wanted to be a musician. It has always been my dream. My dad has always supported me kind of doing what he set out to do when he was younger. He ended up becoming a lawyer and had his law degree before he even went into music, but I’m trying to start early and do what I want first and see what happens from there. Read More »
Every year the Pantone Institute names a “Color of the Year.” Last year they had us swooning over turquoise, but this year the color of choice is honeysuckle. This year’s “it” color has a different feel from 2010; while turquoise is reminiscent of oceans, honeysuckle is considered the color equivalent of a vacation. Honeysuckle is also a confidence color, meaning it channels an attitude of being able to conquer the world.
Yes, all this from a color.
Apart from what wearing the color means, honeysuckle is generally flattering on all skin tones, bringing out a warm glow on those who wear it. As it’s a type of pink it obviously has the connotations of being a feminine shade, but it’s not too bubblegum or girly for those of us who tend to stay far, far away from the pink family. Still, if you don’t want to end up looking like Elle Woods in head to toe Pepto Bismol, there are tons of honeysuckle accessories around that can add a fun punch of springy color to your typical everyday look.
If you’re feeling up to looking pretty in pink or taking a much needed fashion vacay, here are 15 items to get you dreaming in honeysuckle this spring. Read More »
Suri Cruise is not only the daughter of two of Hollywood’s most insane parents (flashback to Tom using Oprah’s couch as a trampoline), but she’s nothing less than a miniature diva. I thought some girls I knew were bad, but as merely a toddler, this little one has them all beat. Surprisingly, we can learn some valuable life lessons from this lipstick-wearing baby starlet. Compared to Suri’s life, ours are all pathetically boring, and we might as well add a little glamour in it any chance we get. Even if it is coming from a toddler.

If you were a recruiter given a choice between two candidates—one with a few years of industry experience and the other with excellent qualifications but no “real world” training—who would you choose?
There’s no easy answer to this question, as there is no clear winner in the age-old debate on the importance of education vs. the value of experience. With one random search on the Internet, you’ll find tons of people sitting on both sides of the fence. Pages and pages have been dedicated to the debate, but it seems far from being settled.
Those who think education has little bearing on success never tire of throwing out the names of famous university dropouts like Bill Gates and Steve Jobs to win their argument, while the proponents of a college education quote statistic after statistic to prove its impact on a person’s employability and earnings.
Education or Experience
So what’s more important—education or experience? The truth is that both have a place in a person’s career trajectory.
While someone with experience but no formal degree may be favored for certain jobs, he or she may find himself or herself reaching a saturation point in his or her career earlier and may struggle to advance professionally because the person is not considered adequately qualified. On the other hand, a college grad with the best education and book smarts may be completely at sea when it comes to dealing with real-world work situations if the graduate has no prior industry experience.
