CC Beauty Live: Makeup For Girls Who Hate Makeup

While many of you love wearing makeup and search your couch cushions and the bottom of all your purses for loose money so you can buy new products, there are a lot of you out there who actually hate wearing makeup. Trust me when I say that I get it; I used to be one of those girls!

Makeup can sometimes be a hassle, especially if you don’t know what products to use or how to use them. Plus, sometimes you just don’t want to stand in front of a mirror and put on your face, dammit. But the honest truth: you don’t have to! Having a polished face doesn’t have to mean 35 products and 30 minutes putting them on.

Contrary to popular belief, I don’t step out of my house looking like I’m headed to a photo shoot every day. I often wear just four products or some variation of them (plus Aquaphor!). These products are a simple way to enhance your features and are perfect for people who want to give makeup a chance or who are just starting out. And while I do recommend investing in higher end versions of these products for quality reasons, you certainly don’t have to! There are plenty of budget-friendly alternatives to all products; just make sure you are aware of what you’re getting.

Kat Von D concealer is amazing and I would highly suggest it for people who are new to the makeup world. I would also suggest "falsies" mascara by Maybelline.:)

      1. Caitlin-University of Alabama says:

Chelsea I love Kat Von D's concealer! I sadly lost my tube of it😦 Falsies is great too!

      2. Chelsea says:

have you used Amazing Cosmetics concealer? I personally was not a fan but a lot of my friends swear by it.

      3. Caitlin-University of Alabama says:

I haven't but I've been hearing a lot of buzz about it! I might try it and let you know!

    2. Janelly says:

Another good option would be a tinted moisturizer!

Which reminds me,Caitlin, you should look into Korean BB Cream. It is absolutely amazing! You should search it up and I am sure you will love it. It's pretty much a tinted moisturizer on steroids. haha

      1. Caitlin-University of Alabama says:

Janelly, thanks for reminding me about that! Tinted moisturizer is great, especially for people who aren't looking for a lot of coverage. I personally like foundation better, but I will definitely look up that BB Cream, thanks!

      2. Janelly says:

Yeah I use the Missha BB Cream. I love that stuff! I'm not even Asian😀 There are a bunch of reviews on youtube and other beauty blogs. I think MusingsofaMuse has reviews on it.

        From your fellow beauty junkie,

    3. Susan says:

Can you talk about the brushes every girl should have and when/how to use them?

      1. Caitlin-University of Alabama says:

Yes Susan, it's on my to-do list!!:)

      2. Chelsea says:

I have loved my eco brushes that I got at Walgreens. They are cheap but amazing quality. They have the basic brushes such as: blush, concealer, eye shadow, ect.

      3. Caitlin-University of Alabama says:

I have an Eco brush from Target that I love!!

    4. Raine says:

Hi Caitlin! I've recently just gotten really into make up. I'm interested in foundations & eyeshadows and all that fun stuff:) However, when I go into the stores it's like they want to sell me EVERYTHING. I'm a little confused on what to buy. Could you do a video on like basic but full necessities for a make up collection? Thanks in advance.

      1. Caitlin-University of Alabama says:

Hey Raine! I'm so glad you're getting into makeup, it's so much fun! And yes, they will try to sell you everything in stores. I generally tell them I'm just looking and then they leave me alone! I can definitely do a video on that, I'm putting it on the list:)

    5. Kay says:

Have you used Benefit's Boi-ing concealer? I just got some but I'm not sold. It's a little cakey and ends up running at the end of the day. I'm thinking about taking it back to Sephora but I'm not sure if all high end concealers are going to be that same kind of cakey.

      1. Caitlin-University of Alabama says:

Hi Kay, I haven't tried it but I've heard less than stellar things about it. If you're not happy with it, you should take it back! Not all high end concealers are cakey. Do you have problems with all concealers or is it just this one? If it's all of them, you should try using a primer because it really keeps everything in place! I hope this helps:)

      2. Kay says:

Thanks! I really loved it in Sephora because it's the only concealer that was really able to hide my (genetic) dark circles, although I'll admit it was the only one I looked at. But it just doesn't hold up all day and it doesn't look natural. I'll look into the Smashbox concealer you mentioned when I go back. I need something with a lot of coverage, though, because my whole eye area tends to be kind of discolored.
I don't usually have a problem with concealers looking cakey, but I also haven't used any with the level of coverage as the Boi-ing.
        Thanks for your advice!

    6. @SoSheTweets says:

love your nail polish! what is it?

      1. Caitlin-University of Alabama says:

        OPI's Color Me Francey!

    7. Caitlin I love watching your videos every weekend they have definitely opened my eyes to some awesome products [Mario Badescu's whitening mask!? So amazing!] so thank you for the tips.
I was wondering if you had any tips for summer-proof makeup. I live in South Carolina and it's starting to get hot and humid again. I know that my biggest problem during the summer is trying to keep my makeup from running or melting off through out the day. Any advice on how to weather proof my make up? Again, thanks for the awesome tips!

      1. Caitlin-University of Alabama says:

Thanks so much!! I totally feel you on the humidity, our Alabama weather has been insane lately! For me, getting a good primer is imperative. I use Make Up For Ever's HD Primer ($32) and set my makeup with their HD Microfinish Powder ($30 for the full size, $15 for travel) which keeps my makeup on all day even in heat/humidity/rain. Smashbox also has great primers for your face. Eyes I use Urban Decay's Primer Potion or concealer if I'm out. Really having a good primer and setting powder should prevent your makeup from melting.

Make sure that you apply products from thinnest to thickest for example: toner, moisturizer, sunscreen, primer, etc. You always want to allow time for products to set in too, so I always put my moisturizer on right after I wash my face and wait about 10 minutes before adding something else on!

Sorry this was so long, I hope this helps:)
