After five years in the spotlight, Miley Cyrus’ reign of terror seems to be over. She’s taking a break from making new music and is focusing on Tweeting her acting career (which looks to be as promising as Keanu Reeves’ career). So with Miley out of the way, which diva-in-training will step up to rule the hearts and minds of America’s tweens?

Let’s break it down.

There’s nothing greater than looking in your wallet, finding a few singles, and resting assured you’ll have a great night. College is all about $1 pitchers, and spending your laundry money on mixed drinks of bottom-shelf, possibly watered down, liquor. If my idea of fancy is paying that extra guacamole charge at Chipotle, I sure as hell am not shelling out more than a few dollars to get my buzz on, am I right?

We had soooo much fun partying down at FSU that we decided to keep the show on the road. Next stop: Mizzou! Instead of throwing back shots at the bar with the girls of Missouri, we’re now taking a chill pill and chugging sipping on martinis (and mocktails) while we get our nails done.  Because even though we might like to party hardy, we also like to relax and de-stress and enjoy a little pampering. The former leader of the Ivory Coast, Laurent Gbagbo, was arrested on Monday after months of refusing to concede power to the rightfully elected president, Alassane Ouattara. (Read more on that here.) Ever since the election back in November, the country has been in the throes of a violent standoff between supporters of Gbagbo and Ouattara. Unfortunately, though, the violence hasn’t ended; on Wednesday, it was reported that citizens are still going into hiding and fleeing the big cities. Killings continue, adding to the over 1,500 lives that have already been claimed.

In a speech on Wednesday, President Obama announced a plan to cut the federal budget deficit by $4 trillion over the next twelve years. Things have been tense lately as we get closer and closer to the $14.3 trillion legal limit on borrowing.  Obama’s plan includes increased taxes on the wealthy and cuts on military and domestic spending. 1. Take the stairs
Studies have shown that taking the stairs instead of the elevator or escalator will burn 2 times more calories. That makes sense, since taking the latter means just standing there and awkwardly not talking to the other people just standing there. Even if it’s just a few stories up to your next class, make the effort to walk there. So the other day I was watching old episodes of 90210 (don’t judge!) that I had DVRed and never got around to watching when it came time for the commercial  break. I looked around for the remote so I could fast forward right through (per usual), but it was all the way on the other side of the room. And I was so comfy in my cocoon of my blankets to make the long trek…. so I decided to just let it be.

I’d watch the commercials for once.

And let me tell you something, I will never do that again. Because a lot of the commercials today? Well, they’re pretty terrible. What are these marketing people thinking? What are the companies thinking? How can they spend millions on this stuff??

10. Flo from Progressive. There’s nothing outright annoying and ridiculous about this commercial except, you know, Flo herself. Who wouldn’t want an overly perky woman in white who wears way too much lipstick and looks like she should be in a Bumpit commercial for their spokesperson? Who would find her annoying? Um, me.

9. Honda’s Mr. Opportunity I’m sorry but why would they think that a cartoon sketch of a sleazy car salesman would be any better at selling cars than an actual sleazy car salesman?

8. McDonalds R&B McNugget Commercial. Girl you got a ten piece, don’t be stingy. Really? This is what they’re going with? An R&B singer crying over the fact that his girlfriend has snuck off in the night, in the rain, in heels, to go pick up a ten piece of McCripsy, McJuicy McNuggets?
