Boys, boys, boys. Here at CollegeCandy, we love them. A lot. And being that we have a lot of time on our hands to search for them on the web, we thought we’d use it to our advantage and yours and bring you a little eye candy that not only makes us drool but also tugs at our heartstrings. So here’s your chance to meet some of the most talented guys in the world…who rock. Like, for real. (They’re musicians, people.)
Name: Sam DeArmond

Type of Music: Acoustic/Pop/Rock
Why He Rocks: With the combination of those eyes and a voice that makes us swoon, how does he not rock.
How long have you been singing?
About 8 years…the same time I started playing guitar.
What are your favorite kinds of songs to sing?
Any song I can relate to and feel. Genre-wise though, I’d have to say pop/rock type stuff.

My relationship with everyone and everything in this world. I also write about relationships that I see from my perspective. Read More »

Thanks to all the technology that’s out today, I always have the latest information. Facebook events spread the word about the parties, Twitter feeds fill my day with celebrity updates, and text messages make it easy to whisper gossip directly to anyone’s inbox.
But all that is just about my world. My miniscule – and mostly menial – collegiate bubble, where my issues of hunger revolve around the bad food at the dining hall and my worries of poverty root back to spending too much at the bar last weekend.
Who are the people I should know, the ones who are really making the news?
Like every other important topic, CollegeCandy makes it easy for you to get “in the know”. Here are only a handful of American politicians that every college student should know, whether they’re officially titled so at the moment or otherwise:
If we can keep track of every meal the Kardashians eat, and every sentence that Lindsay Lohan receives, we should be able to wrap our minds around the political world. But I just barely scratched the surface – who else do you think should be added to this list?

The last month before finals. Woof.
For me, this time of year is all about flashcards and all-nighters celebrating with friends I know I won’t be seeing for months over summer vacation. It’s about taking it all in before it’s back to mom and dad’s chores and nagging. But, above all, it’s the time of year we need good music to dance and drink to, to try and help us forget about all the things (bluebook exams and papers) that lie ahead in the weeks to come.
These past couple months were big ones in the music world. Yet again, it was a popular time for huge artists to come out with new albums. Recently we’ve seen and heard new stuff from artists like Adele, Lupe Fiasco, Chris Brown, and Britney Spears. You can consider this playlist a sample of some of the hottest songs and remixes from their newly released albums you likely haven’t heard before. It’s a taste of a little of each with, as always, some older and some less mainstream type stuff thrown in there as well. Read More »

One spring staple you might already have in your closet is the trench coat. It’s an essential in a woman’s wardrobe (and one of the 5 spring trends we HAVE to have), and if you buy the right one it will last you for a lifetime. Why does every single woman on earth absolutely need a trench?
For one reason and one reason only: a trench coat will not only get through those gross, rainy days we encounter in the spring, but it will get you through them looking chic, cute and put together.
Done and done.
This year there is an insane variety of trench coats available in every length, color, style and pattern, meaning you’ll have no problem finding one that fits into your personal wardrobe. Or one to covet for the rest of your life, like the Burberry one I included (because you can’t talk trenches without mentioning Burberry), which I would need to start a fund for now to be able to afford it by the time I’m 50. But the thing is, you really don’t need to spend $1,000 on a trench coat to get something classic and quality. In fact, I’m willing to bet most people wouldn’t even be able to pick the Burberry one out of the lineup below. [Editor's Note: I couldn't!] Read More »
So I was browsing through the ridiculous number of blogs I visit daily, catching up on the celeb gossip and entertainment, when I came across this post. Now, I like to consider myself a bit of a pop culture connoisseur. I know my celebrities. My TV. My gossip. My entertainment. I know who the next big thing is before they even do and I’m proud of it. So the fact that I had no idea who this girl was until I caught a glimpse of the Teen Mom headline is really saying something. Partly that I need to spend less time doing homework and more time watching MTV, but also that just about anyone who flouts around on the beach in a bikini can get themselves a blog post today.
I mean Jenelle Evans? Does that name ring a bell with anyone? Does she sound like a celebrity to any of you? No?
That’s because she’s not. But yet she was on Celebuzz.com. Apparently there seems to be this misguided notion nowadays that if you appear on a reality TV show you automatically reach celebrity status. But that’s just not how it works. Or, at least that’s not how it should work.

Whether you’re graduating this spring or you’re hunting for a summer internship, you’re probably stressed about acing your interviews. Prepping for an important interview means researching the company and making sure you have smart responses to anticipated questions. It also means being strategic about what to wear to an interview. Specifically, you want to choose job interview clothes — and colors — that will put you in the best light and may give you an advantage.
Research has shown that 85 percent of communication is nonverbal, so choosing what to wear to an interview is clearly an important part of your overall presentation. It won’t make up for weak answers, but it can communicate some positive things about your personality and what you might be like to work with.
Here’s what some common colors convey so you can put them to best use when getting dressed for the job interview: Read More »

These things should be given out at freshman orientation.

Blame it on the M-M-M-M-M-Miley
So apparently drinking and doings drugs is cool again.
At least that’s what our friends over at Jezebel are telling us the stats at Drugfree.org are telling them. 45% of high school students don’t see a “great risk” in heavy drinking. And 68% of those high school students have had their first drink by age 14. Additionally, since 2008 the use of marijuana is up from 32% to 39% and the use of ecstasy is up from 4% to 6%.
But let’s step back from the statistics for a minute an discuss the stuff behind the stats. For the first time in years substance abuse is once again on the rise and the real question on everyone’s mind has to be, why?
The director of strategy at Drugfree.org suggests budget cuts to prevention programs, the legalization of medicinal marijuana or even the stress of difficult economic times. But for me at least, these don’t seem like viable options. I don’t think medicinal marijuana is behind this increase, nor do I think it’s the hard economic times. I mean, if teens don’t see the risk of binge drinking do you really think they see the ramifications of the stock market crash? And, honestly, I don’t think it’s the loss of prevention programs either. Teens today live in a world without limits. All the information they could ever want is at their fingertips. Pamphlets won’t tell them anything Google can’t. Read More »
Every girl needs a good purse (or 12). Whether you’re going for groceries or running from class to class, they are simply essential for holding all your, uh, essentials. Each week, I’m going to show you a fashionable, yet functional purse for the college crowd and let you know why you absolutely need it! I apologize ahead of time to your bank account.
Since crossbody bags hit the runways a couple seasons ago, they have been all over the place. Don’t you remember a few years back when every single girl on campus had a Coach Swingpack, worn crossbody style? It’s all the same. Crossbody bags are perfect for the girl on the go – big enough to carry all your essentials, but can also be forgotten about as it hangs at your hips. Whenever I go out dancing with girlfriends or am traveling, I’m sure to bring along a crossbody bag.
