Hot or Hot Mess: Blake Lively in Marchesa at CinemaCon Awards 2011

[Like it or not, we all judge people every day. Especially when it comes to their fashion choices. From the girl with the too-short skirt for class to the old guy who insists on wearing short shorts and doing butterfly stretches at the gym (yeah, try to get that visual out of your head), it's impossible not to form an opinion. And now we're gonna share those opinions with the world. Every week, I'll be highlighting a celebrity look that I may love/hate/not understand and see what you, my college fashionistas, think about it. So put on your Joan Rivers fashion cap (which is undoubtedly made out of all the skin she's had nipped and tucked over the years) and let it all out.]
Blake Lively accepted her award for Breakthough Performer of the Year in a dazzling red Maschesa dress and Brian Atwood heels at this year’s CinemaCon Awards. The dress had a red sheer-pannelled bodice and a ruffled tulle skirt, and she paired it with simple chandellier earrings and fresh makeup.
Blake Lively can do no wrong in terms of fashion choices. Let’s face it; she’s about 10 feet tall and her legs go on forever. She has the body that us mere mortals can only dream of. But this outfit is…questionable. On paper, it really should work. Red= good. Tulle= good. Sheer paneling = good. But together, it just feels a little bit… costumey.
What do think of this ensemble? Hot or a total hot mess?

a little too similar emma watson's deathly hallows premiere dress for my taste, and not pulled off with as much elegance and class as emma's. her hair is questionable also, but she pretty much always looks good!

blake lively is gorgeous, this dress is hideous and usually she wears pretty cute stuff.

Not flattering for her at all, it worked with Emma because she's flat-chested and has the hair for it.
Blake isn't dainty enough, she's too… Sexy.

Hot shoes, but this dress is not flattering for her chest and square shoulders. Way too much bulk up top.

i agree i does not fit her chest well at all but she looks stunning in the color and i like the risk taken with it. She has a tendency (pre Chanel of course) to play it safe

I'm not gonna lie, I like it. It's fun but still pretty. The only part that is a little off for me is the V in the front, I think that should just be the same pattern as the rest and it would work fine.

the shoes and the sparkle in the earrings make this outfit a little too moulin rouge for my taste. the top should have been more sheer as well. adding that much bulk up there is unflattering, however, the side profile of this dress is STUNNING. although its a little costumey, its funny, flirty, sexy, and pushes the envelope. something im sure we can all agree blake does with style.

I would love to wear this for a latin dancing costume…. which is still a costume
