Dear Dude,
I’m having some trouble figuring out what the guy I’m dating wants. We’ve been dating for a month now; he plays in my band and we met in February. He started flirting with me, chatting all the time and texting, until we finally kissed a month ago and we started dating. We go out 2 times a week and I already know all his friends. The problem is that he never had a serious relationship before, so he has no clue! He almost never texts, only for very specific things, and he makes me plan every date. Sometimes we don’t talk for 2 days until one of us finally talks, and I have no idea where is this going.
I really like him but I really don’t want to be played. He says he really likes me and I’m a very fun girl to be with, but that’s all. Is he into me, or just wants to be into my panties?
Thanks for listening! And greetings from Argentina!

It’s 2011, right? Um, so can anyone tell me why women are STILL getting paid less than men for equal work? Because, as a newly minted college grad looking to jump start my career (and pay off my loans), I’d really like to know.
In a study of nearly 13,000 graduating seniors last fall, researchers discovered that the median starting salary for female college graduates with bachelor’s degrees was $36,451. Not bad, right? Except that the median salary for male college graduates with a bachelor’s degree was $7,708 more. For the same job.
So, apparently having a penis gets you a pay raise? I guess all of those nights I spent praying for boobs in 7th grade would’ve been better spent asking for something else.
The statistics are sad and infuriating. After all, women make up over 50% of university classes! We’re being educated like never before, so it’s not like that’s working against our changes. And the study could not find a correlation between college major and earning, meaning that it’s not like guys are making more money because they tend to pursue a field that pays more. They’re just getting paying more…because they’re men. And keep in mind this is before the company sees any type of job performance.
That sounds fair and equal. Read More »
What It Is:
Kahina Giving Beauty Toning Mist
Why This Should Be in Your Bag:
Luxe skincare products are always a fun way to switch up your routine. Every time I use one, I feel like I’m pampering myself! And we all know the importance of effective skincare; if you’re skin isn’t in tip-top shape, it will show, regardless of how much makeup you slather on.
Kahina Giving Beauty is a company started by Katharine Phillips L’Heureux. She was inspired by a trip to Morocco, where she discovered the benefits of Argan Oil and the hardworking women who produce it. The skincare line is small, but well thought-out and, even better, Kahina gives back 25% of the profits to the women of Morocco who produce the oils used in the products! I gave their Toning Mist a test run and felt good about myself while doing so.
How To Use It:
From the name, it’s not really clear what the purpose of this Toning Mist is. Thankfully, it comes with some suggestions for use. They suggest to “use morning and evening after cleansing and before applying either Kahina Argan Oil or Kahina Serum to aid in superior absorption. Spritz throughout the day to replenish moisture and refresh.” After a couple test runs, I settled on my routine, which included washing my skin in the evening and then applying this before my moisturizer. When I graduated from college, I told myself that I was never going to behave the way I had for the past four years. Especially since I was no longer going to be attending Thirsty Thursdays, Wasted Wednesdays and Tipsy Tuesdays, and there weren’t horny boys lurking around every corner. Essentially, ‘hooking up,’ in all of its glory, was taking a gracious bow out of my life. And I accepted it. I was ready to burst into the world of dating, cute little kisses at my doorstep, waking up at 8 am alone and never again embarrassing myself when I walked home wearing a tutu and a Run DMC shirt.
My new mature self truly believed hooking up was for immature people who peaked in college. But not me. I was now an adult and completely grown out of my college meet-a-guy-in-the-corner-and-hump-him-against-a-wall self. Now I’d meet men in grocery stores and in passing on the sidewalk near the cigar shop. (What am I, 50?! Whatever, I saw it.) I had a little fantasy land in my mind where I would meet my knight in shining armor, he would work with numbers, wear a suit and have a passion for life so thick and deep, I would not be able to see the end of it.
I had no time for immature boys who wanted to spoon with me on a futon after we took red headed slut shots together at the bar and talked about Jurassic Park because it was “oh my gaw, so totally our favorite movie in grade school!” I had no time for the silly guilt I’d feel the next morning until I smoothed it over with my girlfriends. And I had absolutely no tolerance for deciding mid-makeout sesh that I’d rather be eating a tortilla with cheese in my own bed. Read More »

There are a lot of perks to being a celebrity. Fame, fortune and all that good stuff are a given, and it’s the reason why so many people would do just about anything to make it big themselves. But as a society I think we often get so caught up in the perks of being famous that we forget about some of the cons; the cons that we as fans who want to know all about these people contribute to. There’s lack of privacy, gossip, and lots and lots of crazy people following your every move, which you probably think would be one of the perks. And I’m sure for a lot of celebrities that is one of the perks. But some fans, well, they can get a little bit crazy, and that’s when things can get just a little bit scary, especially for these celebrities right here.
Not the craziest fan in the
Alright CollegeCandies, which celebs do you think have the craziest fans? Or are you a crazy fan yourself? Leave a comment and let us know. We won’t tell. Promise.
[Welcome to Celebrity Chic on the Cheap, where our style guru takes a celebrity look and breaks it down for you, our poor college fashionista. What does that mean? It means that while the celebrities (like everyone's favorite not-so-reality star, Lauren Conrad) are spending $5,000 and more on an ensemble, you an spend way less...and save the rest for Margarita Mondays.]
I can’t gush about Rachel Bilson’s style enough (I’ve written about her twice before. She’s so dynamic and committed to being on-trend while still letting her own personality shine through. She never looks anything less than polished but never excessively, inaccessibly so. Her outfits are always straightforward and simple, but never dull or uninspired. Basically, I worship her and everything she chooses to be. Read More »

This kinda put your life in perspective

This week’s episode of Glee is tragic for several reasons: the first (and most important) tragedy? Sue’s sister, Jean (the Downs Syndrome patient who we’ve visited in a nursing home every time we need to be reassured of the existence of Sue’s heart) passed away. The death is sudden (though quite predictable), and it set the stage for many of the issues that were tackled in “Funeral.”
Another tragic event? The return of Jesse St. James, who regularly ruins Rachel’s life, Adele’s songs, The New Directions’ easy harmony (no pun intended!), and my personal love for Jonathan Groff. Mr. St. James is hired as the show choir consultant for the New Directions.
It’s interesting; so many of the characters in Glee stand for different ideals, and the struggle between two characters is often just a microcosm for the war between the two larger ideas. For example: there’s Sue vs. Will (let’s just call that one “good vs. evil,” even though we all know it’s more complex than all that.) There’s also Sue vs….another side of Sue, Rachel vs Quinn, The New Directions vs The Warblers – you get the picture. This week, we’re introduced to another character war: Finn vs. Jesse. If you think that the only beef these two have has to do with their affections for Rachel, you’re wrong. After hearing about Sue’s loss, Finn insists that the Glee Club take some time away from practicing for Nationals to help organize the funeral. Jesse disagrees and says that the idea is counterproductive, but Finn, who finally grows some balls starts displaying some of that leadership that we’ve been missing for so long, is adamant.
