In Our Makeup Bag: Topshop Duo Eyeshadow in Meteoric
What It Is:
Topshop Duo Eyeshadow in Meteoric
Why This Should Be in Your Bag:
After featuring a lips/cheeks duo last week, why not an eye duo this week? Eyeshadow duos are just as tricky as for makeup brands – the colors have to complement each other and work on a variety of skintones!
The mega UK retailer, Topshop, launched a line of makeup last year, with many products receiving rave reviews. I’ve already checked out their cream blush and decided it was time to dive into shadows. This summer’s limited edition collection is titled “Sandstorm” and is inspired by the Burning Man festival that’s held in the Nevada desert. Along with this release came two duos, once of which I’ve taken for a test drive.
How To Use It:
Meteoric features a silver and a plum shadow. As with any duo, you have options: wear one shadow, wear both or mix them together! However, this duo is also baked, meaning you can wear the shadows wet for even more intensity or as a liner. I like to brush the silver all over my eyelids and then define the outer “V” and crease with the plum!

CC Rating: A+
I’m actually shocked at how much I love this duo. Seriously – I didn’t expect Topshop to pump out such high quality eyeshadow! They glide on smooth and have great pigmentation. Honestly, these rank right up there alongside MAC and theBalm for my fave shadows.
The color pairing in this duo is just perfect. The silver and plum are gorgeous on their own and when mixed, make a gorgeous smoky taupe. When I don’t have much time for makeup, but want an eye look that’s a bit more dimensional, I’ve been reaching for Meteoric. I imagine that this would be ideal for travel; you basically have three colors and, therefore, a bunch of looks for day and night.
My only complaint is the packaging! It’s made of plastic and seems kind of flimsy. I’m certain that if I dropped this, it would break into tiny pieces. However, I can’t say that I wouldn’t buy a product just for packaging, and since the quality of the shadow is so exceptional, I’m willing to overlook it. In fact, I’m so willing to overlook this issue that I just placed the other duo, Solar Cell, into my Topshop.com cart. Hurry and get yourself Meteoric – Topshop currently has free shipping throughout the states, so you really have no excuse!
