Baggin’ Out: Lauren Moshi Heart Dreamcatcher Tote
[Every girl needs a good purse (or 12). Whether you’re going for groceries or running from class to class, they are simply essential for holding all your, uh, essentials. Each week, I’m going to show you a fashionable, yet functional purse for the college crowd and let you know why you absolutely need it! I apologize ahead of time to your bank account.]
My summer so far has been filled with day trips. Trips to the beach, my cottage, the local dog park – you get the picture. Even though the purpose of these trips is fun rather than fashion, I always try to look my best and have been cringing over the grungy totes I’ve been using. My backpacks are too big to lug around as a bag, but my purses aren’t big enough, so I’m stuck using old totes I received at conferences and the like. Trust me, nothing kills a super cute outfit like a re-usable campus bookstore tote that’s bright blue. So, I set out to find a cute tote that would still be appropriate for all these activities. And I think I found one in Lauren Moshi!
Lauren Moshi is a brand created by brother and sister team, Michael and Lauren. They specialize in casual wear and totes that feature beautiful, hand-drawn art. Since its inception, the line has quickly become a celeb and fashionista favorite and I can’t believe that I’m only now hoping on the bandwagon!
What first attracted me to this tote was the gorgeous dreamcatcher artwork – it’s stunning and so unique! The purple, pink and yellow color scheme appeals to my girly side and the braided tassel is just such a cute addition. Seriously, this bag is so up my alley it’s not even funny. Besides having mega visual appeal, this tote perfectly suits my needs. It’s a generously sized at 16′ L x 13.5′ H x 5′ D, with sneaky side pockets and an additional pocket inside. The open interior ensures that I’ll be able to fit everything necessary for a day trip, including awkward shaped items (hello frisbee!) that are often restricted by a regular purse.
Initially, I was a bit concerned with the stark, white canvas exterior. I’m a neat freak when it comes to my purses and cannot handle stains. However, the laid back illustration allows the bag to get slightly scuffed up and still maintain it’s cool. As long as you’re not dunking this beauty in mud puddles, a little grass stain here or there will suit it just fine. And, even though I know summer is barely halfway done, I had to think of how functional this would be once school starts up again! Seriously, perfect library bag; there’s room for all your texts and notebooks, plus tools and snacks.
Another complaint I’ve heard about Lauren Moshi is the price tag. These totes retail for around $80-100, which is quite a bit for a canvas tote without any bells and whistles. I admit, that is quite a bit, especially if you’re on a budget. However, if you’re truly looking for a great tote, I don’t think you can get any better. The versatility and wearability of a beautiful tote such as this will surprise you. You can carry this around to sports games, beach days, overnight trips, etc. Another great use I’ve found is as a chic shopping bag. Instead of wasting resources and getting a paper/plastic bag at every shop, throw all your purchases in a canvas tote! And when you have a cute, go-to tote like the Lauren Moshi Heart Dreamcatcher one, you’ll be more likely to use it. Bottom line: if it’s really calling to you, I think it’s completely justified.
If you’re in the market for a new tote, I highly suggest checking out Lauren Moshi’s line of canvas bags. They are truly works of art!
