9 Current Events That Will Most Definitely Become Movies

It’s no secret that Hollywood is running low on ideas, but eventually they’re going to run out of movies to make straight-to-DVD sequels to and pathetic remakes. When the legendary Chilean miners sold the rights to a movie screenplay, it made me think — maybe that’s it! Maybe movie directors don’t need to come up with any more original ideas — maybe all they need to do is watch the news to spark up the imagination.
There are seriously SO many things that have been happening recently that would make for amazing films. Check them out now!
Would you actually watch any of these movies? Do you have any other movie ideas?

I'm just going to put this out there, but I'm quite tired of people thinking America should have won the cup. Japan deserves it after everything they've been through. Maybe I'm saying that because I'm Japanese, but I also did grow up in America and have pride for the country, but seriously? Saying there should be a movie about the cup and USA should win in the end. No. That's dumb.

NIce post. And I think a movie about the US team losing would be even more interesting, it could be a break from the cliche. But I'm sure Wikileaks, Casey Anthony etc. will all be out there soon!

I think what the writer is trying to say is that Hollywood WOULD change it to be that way, not the the US SHOULD have won, or that it SHOULD be that way in the movie. Rather I think it's a commentary as to the American bias in Hollywood

I really hope that they make a movie about the 2011 Women's World Cup. I watched a lot of the tournaments, and it would be cool to make a movie about the games and behind the scenes as well. The only irritating thing would be Hollywood changing everything up to make it "cool".

Don't recall Amy Winehouse ever having an on and off relationship with Pete Doherty. Pretty sure it was Blake Fielder-Civil.

I've never understood that point of view. Japan suffered through a terrible disaster, therefore they deserve to…win a soccer tournament? Should we just give them every international award this year?
The team that deserves to win the world cup is the best team, which you could definitely argue was Japan. I don't think there's anything wrong with rooting for the US team to win or being disappointed that they lost, however.

I have a Japanese mother and American father and have plenty of friends with the same. It'd be interesting to have a movie about how families with mixed nationalities split on which team to root for than the focus be on who won and lost. It's rather stupid to change the outcome of a documented event just because you feel like one team "should have won" over the other. This sort of thinking only fuels how some countries view the U.S as a country full of arrogant, rude people. Both teams played hard and one was going to be the winner. Either way it's an interesting story from both perspectives.
