Hot or Hot Mess: Emma Stone in Giambattista Valli at the Friends with Benefits Premiere

Emma Stone was back to her vibrant, bright self in more ways than one at the Friends With Benefits premiere this week, in this on-trend Giambattista Valli number. The colour-blocking piece combined colour-of-the-season punchy pink in the skirt and bright red in the bodice. She paired the outfit with simple nude shoes, a silver clutch and pretty pink lips.

I absolutely love the colours of this dress. Red is notoriously hard to pull off for redheads, but she chooses a perfect shade of red that doesn’t compete with her hair or over-power it. Pink and red is also an unusual combination, but it pushes colour blocking beyond simply complimentary colours and the result really works. The long sleeves of the blouse and the pencil shape of the skirt are both grown-up but sexy on her, and the pretty nude pumps make her legs look a mile long and compliment the look perfectly. I also love the fact that unlike a lot of young actresses, Emma is happy to embrace her naturally pale skin, even in an outfit this bright. Read More »

10 Celebri-kid Tell-Alls We Can’t Wait to Read

The birth of yet another Beckham child has left us at College Candy wondering–what in the hell goes on inside that perfect household? And how do they all stay so effing attractive all the time? Magic?? And what about little Max and Emme? Good thing they turned out so flippin’ cute, because their dad looks like a creepy skeleton. Nice genes, J. Lo. But what will they have to say in twenty years about their parents’ mystery split?

Good thing celebri-kids are usually looking to make a name for themselves once they hit early adulthood, because that often means they solicit their posh childhoods in autobiographies and tell-alls and we happily buy it all up.

So which celebrity offspring chronicles are we anticipating the most? All of them, of course. But here’s a few that will without a doubt be top tier.

Welcome to the Real Word: No Such Thing as an Endless Summer

The best part of school is not going to school. Or so you thought, back in the days of recess, friendship bracelets and raising your hand to use the bathroom. The stray feigned sick day was enough to hold you over until you hit the real jackpot: summer vacation. Even in high school, when summer meant staying up late to finish that last beer instead of finishing the latest Goosebumps book, June welcomed a much-needed freedom from responsibility.

Come college, however, the best times usually happen during the semesters, not between them. You’ve heard it before — especially if you’re a regular CollegeCandy reader – high school friends tend to drift apart, hometowns suddenly become boring and living with your parents…ick, don’t even get me started. The idea of a blue popsicle and a trip to the local pool sounds borderline painful when you could potentially be at Dollar Beer Night with your campus besties.

And so the concept of summer quickly loses its luster. Facebook newsfeeds are clogged with “Get me back to football season,” “Miss my [insert school name] girls!” and “Counting down to move- in!” sentiments. Because seriously, who wants to be stuck at home with nothing to do but get their nails done and shop and maybe stop by a part-time job a couple times a week and then go back to shopping and free lunches with mom and…. Tricks and Tips to Feeling Confident in Your Swimsuit

It’s time. That moment when you are standing on the beach, or a yacht in Miami if you’re annoying and you have to find a sexy way to take off your maxi dress (which sounds impossible might I add) and debut your healthy and freckle-less skin. To the rays of sunshine. And all of the men ogling at your fun bags and all the girls admiring your creativity to mix-match your Target swimsuit.

It’s a tough, tough world out there Target goddesses.

In my mind, I want to step out in my Egyptian looking maxi (Kim Kardashian style) and rip it off like a sexy, slim, and bodacious lady-Hulk. And you know what? I can. All it takes is a little confidence, body shimmer and a pearly white smile. Kind of like an Orbit commercial.

Get out those spaghetti strapped swimsuits ladies, it’s time to show some skin. Read More »

Baggin’ Out: Volcom According to You Bag

[Every girl needs a good purse (or 12). Whether you’re going for groceries or running from class to class, they are simply essential for holding all your, uh, essentials. Each week, I’m going to show you a fashionable, yet functional purse for the college crowd and let you know why you absolutely need it! I apologize ahead of time to your bank account.]

I’m still on a budget kick, but thinking more about office-wear lately. Not only do I currently work in an office (okay, it’s an Athletic’s office, but still!), but I’m also working in a few psychology labs this year for course credit. That means potentially dealing with participants and clients, so I need to dress business-casual at all times. I have a few bigger, business-y bags, but not many. So I set out for a business-casual purse that I could bring to a lab and stuff silly with all my textbooks. Behold, the Volcom According to You bag!
