This Is What Happens When Parents Text!

We all know that when our parents text, things sometimes go awry. My mom, in particular, loves to create her own abbreviations. We’ll be in the midst of a hilarious conversation and then she’ll send me a message that says LSHRN. Me: “what does that mean, mom?” Her: “Laughing so hard right now.” Like as if she’s too good for LOL and LMAO? Turns out, I’m not the only one whose parents provide pure comedy via text message.

Authors Lauren Kaelin and Sophia Fraioli have taken it upon themselves to document the hilariousness with their website WhenParentsText.com, and now with their book When Parents Text. Check out some of these funny convos between parents and their kids. Now we know what happens when parents text. Can’t wait to read “when parents are on facebook”!

HAY: Because we like “hay” with our hangover food, apparently.

QUIET FLOOR: This really makes me question what parents mean when they say “I only want the best for you in life.” The best what? Boyfriend? or Education?

PROUD: You know when parents try and make joke that they think we would particularly enjoy…and then it’s not funny? This is one of those jokes.

PASTA RECIPES: That’s mom’s way of nicely saying “you better stop drinking all of my vodka, I know you’re not really putting all of it in your pasta!”

MIDTERM ANGEL: That’s clearly an ass cheek. Mom was definitely trying to be funny.

RECREATIONAL TURF:  This is what they mean by “parents just don’t understand.” They always take things so literally!

HIPSTER: I spit out my coffee when I read this one. Totally sounds like something my mom would say!

FINALS ADVICE: ………nervous poopy?

FAMILY PHOTO: No respect for their mom!

CLASSY: This would be the first entry on “when parents get on facebook.”

This article was lamer than the parent's attempt at humor. Stop reinforcing stereotypes that girls (and parents) aren't funny.
