Dear Dorm Companies: WTF Are Your Thinking!?

If you’ve ever looked through back to school editions of furniture and home decor magazines, they often focus on things you might want to buy to make your new dorm feel super homey and look super cute. The problem is, I’m not sure any of these “dorm furniture” designers have actually ever seen a dorm room, let alone lived in one. Like, I really love this floor to ceiling gilded mirror and the six foot long purple couch you’re showing me here, but I’m pretty sure once I put all that in my dorm there would be no room for me.

If you’re lost on exactly what “dorm necessities” I’m talking about, take a look.

I was lucky enough to have my own bathroom, but that was because my school used to be a hotel.

This article was hilarious. I agree with everything, I'm not even gonna have a room this year so seeing all those furniture was kind of depressing.

this was funny but the dorm room i had at my cal state housed 4 girls we each got our own rooms, 2 bathrooms, a living room, a full kitchen, and balcony so this stuff would fight, but what college student can afford the pottery barn prices?

So was mine. Also, the people in my dorm that had singles all had couches/futons in their rooms in addition to their beds.

      I'm so broke, I can't even afford a room.

Prices for rooms tend to go towards €400 here in Nijmegen (the Netherlands). I just have the luck of living in this city for 19 years and a year or two extra with my mum won't bother me that much. Someone I know is in the same situation as I am, but she has to travel over two hours by train just to get to Nijmegen…

Haha this was very funny and i totally agree with everything, except the bath mat. Some people do have their own bathrooms, myself included. I'm going to be sharing it with another girl who's connected to it on the other side.

aww these are all from PB teen which has gorgeous stuff! And some students do live off campus so they could use some of these things such as the bath mat – by the way, I love pink and black!

Haha, this is hilarious. I remember buying one of those sphere chairs that was supposedly for dorms, but it turned out to be so huge that there was no way I could actually take it to school.

My dorm room was tiny, definitely no room for furniture! I did use one of the hanging shoe shelves in my tiny closet and the pants hangers that hold 4 or 5 pairs of pants. Need to save space where we can! Nice post.
