Do’s and Don’ts of Studying Abroad
August 28, 2011 5:00 pm Posted in Back to School, College Alyssa – University of Maryland g+ page

I spent the spring semester of my junior year abroad, receiving college credit to essentially—mess around. The four months I spend in Europe were the most amazing times and adventures of my life, I’d do it again in a heartbeat. But I can’t say that I wouldn’t do somethings differently, looking back on my time there.
Here’s my list of things to try and things to avoid, so that all you CollegeCandy readers can have the best time ever.

This is perfect. I lived in Peru during my senior year, and all of these things definitely helped me out. I didn't keep a blog either, and I regret it too!

These are great, but at the same time, be sure not to perpetuate the 'ugly American' stereotype. Breaking laws kinda falls under that, so I really wouldn't recommend it.

Great tips! I totally agree with all of them. Just one thing – I was in Prague this summer and they had Kotex and Always tampons, don't worry

dude. Kinder Bueno chocolate is ITALIAN, not ASIAN (CHINESE, I think). Just cuz a candy has an international factory doesn't make it the local food. Do your research plz. )))

This is great! I was only in Greece for a month, but it was the time of my life. I would add one tip though – don't stress too much over classes, especially if you're on a short-term trip with limited time to sight-see. Being the perfectionist that I am, the B I got in Euclid's geometry is a frustrating addition to my transcript, but I would have had to sacrifice hours of exploring time in order to study to get an A. The B was definitely worth the experiences I had during the times I could have busted my butt studying instead. Also, take lots of pictures! I took over 800 and I still wish I had taken more.
