Web Spy: Card Karma

When we first got the internet at my house growing up (back in grade school), one of my favorite things to do was send ecards to all my friends and family. I’d send them for every occasion and even for no occasion whatsoever! Luckily, my obsession with ecards died out by the time middle school rolled around, when I started thinking ecards were lame.

And while a lot of ecard websites do have some kind of lame cards, not all ecard sites are equal. In fact, Card Karma is the complete opposite of lame — it’s actually pretty awesome!

Card Karma has hundreds of cards for all the usual occasions — holidays, birthdays, get well, thinking of you, etc. The cards are simple — just a picture or YouTube video and some text — but it works. Card Karma also has cards featuring YouTube videos and  funny internet memes (like the sneezing baby panda).

Besides all the usual card types, Card Karma also has the option to make your own card, which is perfect for all the occasions that they don’t have ecards for — such as “Sorry I drunk dialed you last night,” “He didn’t deserve you anyway,” “Happy Taco Tuesday!” or anything else you can think of! Just choose a picture (use your own or browse one from their library and Flickr) or video (from their vast variety of YouTube clips), write a message, adjust the font size and color, and send to your friends!

Last but not least, you can actually post the cards to a Facebook wall, which goes a lot further than the typical “happy bday”.

I think it’s safe to say that thanks to Card Karma, my long-abandoned addiction to ecards has officially relapsed.
