Celebrity Chic on the Cheap: Emma Stone is Watermelon Chic

Who isn’t obsessed with Emma Stone? Almost every person I know is, and judging by the fact that she has been in approximately 9 zillion movies in the last year, so is Hollywood. I think we’re all desperate for a young redhead who isn’t a trainwreck (still rooting for you, Lindsay!) Emma is not only totally gorgeous, but she has a radiant aura and personality that is reflected in her beautiful, vibrant style. She’s not afraid of color, which always makes her outfits exciting. The Craziest Fanny Packs

For some reason, fanny packs have made some sort of comeback in the past couple of years. Why these terrible things have gained popularity among people who aren’t moms at Disney World is completely over my head, but they’re out there and people are wearing them.

Having established that I don’t enjoy seeing people wearing these waist wallets, I will admit that the many styles that fanny packs come in always provide some laughs. Click through for some, um, entertainment.

8 Under $20: Wood Details

There’s something I’ve always loved about wood details for clothes and accessories. It adds a natural, bohemian feel to any look that is perfect for the summertime. Not only do dark wood details go great with summer brights, but they also pair nicely with the darker and muted shades you see in fall. Plus, I love how wood’s heaviness makes it a statement on its own, so you don’t need many other accessories! And the best thing about wood? It’s inexpensive! All of these pieces are less than $20, making it easy to add wood details into your wardrobe! Read More »

The Must-haves for a Middle Schools Dance

Ah, middle school dances. Remember those? Middle school was a time filled with girls who like boys but are taller than them and boys who like girls but are suffering through that awkward I might-be-going-through-puberty-soon stage. A time for “do you like me? check yes or no” notes, relentless bullying as a sign of flirtation, and teachers who are more in tuned with the adolescent gossip than the actual students are. So when you bring all of these elements together for a school dance: the awkward meter skyrockets! As we take a trip down memory lane, let us remember those crucial ingredients needed to concoct the perfect middle school dance.

Sex in the News: Comprehensive sex ed coming to NYC schools

The battle for comprehensive sexual education in New York City is finally over, as for the first time in over twenty years public middle and high school students will be required to take sex-ed classes. The Bloomberg administration has decided it’s time to implement new initiatives in an attempt to improve the lives of the city’s black and Latino teenagers. City statistics show these groups are more at risk than their white counterparts for unplanned pregnancies and contracting sexually-transmitted diseases. Read More »

He Said/She Said: Ranking the Opposite Sex

Depending on what stage of life you’re in, your version of “ranking” the opposite sex will be different. For instance, if you’re in the post break-up or rebound stage, you’re probably seeking the confidence boost that comes with banging bagging a total hottie. After my first love broke my little heart way back when, I hunted for potential suitors until I found myself a Chad Michael Murray look alike. Did he make me laugh? Not once. Was he smart? Eh. Did he bring anything else to the table besides discussing Colt McCoy? Nada. But was he hot? Sweet Jesus, was he ever. And that was all I cared about at that point. Read More »
