If you’ve ever looked through back to school editions of furniture and home decor magazines, they often focus on things you might want to buy to make your new dorm feel super homey and look super cute. The problem is, I’m not sure any of these “dorm furniture” designers have actually ever seen a dorm room, let alone lived in one. Like, I really love this floor to ceiling gilded mirror and the six foot long purple couch you’re showing me here, but I’m pretty sure once I put all that in my dorm there would be no room for me.
If you’re lost on exactly what “dorm necessities” I’m talking about, take a look.

Up until I was 19-years-old, I lived my life as a happy carnivore. I ate meat daily, just like most people do. I always preferred a plate of vegetables over a hot dog, but I never really imagined cutting it out of my life entirely. And then I read a book called Skinny Bitch, discovered what apparently really goes on in slaughter houses, and changed everything about my eating habits.
If you’ve never heard of Skinny Bitch, it’s a really popular book by Rory Freedman and Kim Barnouin. The authors are two strict vegans trying to educate readers about how to live a healthier lifestyle. One day I was eating bacon with breakfast, chicken for lunch and steak for dinner, and the next, I was reading a paragraph about what was found in meat in slaughterhouses. When I was finished reading, I immediately went home and announced to my family that my meat-eating days were officially over. In the span of two hours, I decided to cut red meat and chicken out of my life for good.
I still eat fish sometimes, so I am technically a pescetarian and not a vegetarian. However, life as a pescetarian is still pretty difficult. For one thing, I never knew how many people had opinions about what I ate until I stopped eating meat. For another thing, I never realized how many things have meat in them. Here’s my story of what life is like when you cut out red meat and chicken… Read More »
The controversial marriage of 16-year-old “singer” (and I use that term extremely lightly) Courtney Stodden and 51-year-old washed-up actor Doug Hutchinson is disturbing on a few different levels. Aside from the fact that Doug is 35 years her senior, Courtney seems to be totally happy and content with giving up her youth and jumping right into serious commitment. I mean, I know when I was 16, I could barely commit to doing my homework.
And even though everything about their relationship is so wrong, I can’t help but watch their every move. The drug-enhanced interviews, the ridiculous music videos, the fact that Hutchinson thinks he’s some “accomplished actor” just because he has a 2 episode role on ABC’s “Lost…” They definitely have the Kardashian effect going for them and I think a reality show, a record deal, and a line of designer lollipops is just around the corner for the happy (or just really, REALLY high) couple.
And if E! does decide to give them their own show, check out the Frisky’s concept ideas. I don’t know about you, but I think I’d tune in to “Tiger Cakes” every week.

I have a confession to make- I love Zooey Deschanel. As in, I really love her. I want to be her and marry her all at the same time. She is one of my number one style icons and as far as I’m concerned, she could walk around in a snuggy and I would still think she looked amazing.
However, while always looking amazing, she sometimes makes some strange sartorial choices. Usually sticking to vintage style dresses and Mary Janes, she sometimes goes for something a little more quirky. Like this Moschino dress. Read More »

I guess Sex and the City big shots didn’t learn their lesson with the second Sex and the City movie. Sure, the series was really awesome and basically biblical for sassy young professional ladies living in a big city. But it had its run, and the first film proved that there’s not much more to say about Carrie and Big. However, it appears that SATC 3 is possibly in the works, according to SJP.
I don’t know about you, but there are a million more trequels I’d like to see before having to sit through the saga of Carrie’s indecisiveness, Samantha’s sexcapades (best part), Charlotte’s boring life and Miranda’s cynicism. To name a few… Read More »

An excuse to go stock up on back to school fall essentials. And I’m not talking about school supplies (though I do miss the thrill of purchasing fresh erasers and binders). Maybe it’s just me feeling old, but I can’t help but think kids are growing up faster than ever before. I’m constantly seeing second graders with iPhones, 13-year-olds rocking designer bags and little boys who use more hair gel than DJ Pauly D. I mean, maybe it’s just because the 90s were a VERY different time, but I can’t help but feel like kids today are growing up a little too quickly. That being said, their parents aren’t doing much to help either. Aside from spoiling them and letting them have Facebook profiles by age 11, some parents go as far as to buy their kids inappropriate and sometimes offensive clothing that definitely sends the wrong message.
