Celebrity Chic on the Cheap: Britney Spears is Gorgeous in Green

I adore Britney. Part of it is pure nostalgia – she was the ultimate pop star goddess during my formative years. Everynone wanted to be her, to live her glam lifestyle, to possess her amazing abs. And she always seemed so fun and accessible. And then…well, you know the breakdown situation. But I am incredibly proud of her for even stepping out in public again after such a long, incredibly visible meltdown – let alone still being musically relevant, especially when most people didn’t think she’d make it past 2007.

All that said, despite her ridiculously infectious pop songs and the sexpot image she is known for, most of the time…Britney is kind of a hot mess. It’s almost charming. She neglects her hair, wears clothes that don’t quite fit — or match…or have stains — and she is not afraid to completely destroy a perfectly fine outfit with poor shoe choices. So I was very pleasantly surprised to see her at an event in London looking very pretty and stylish.

I love green, and it’s pretty underrated as a going-out color, but I love how vibrant and bold it is. Cut outs in dresses and tops are very trendy, so you could rock this dress without anything underneath, but I really love the contrast in Britney’s paneled dress, so you can choose to recreate it by adding a black sheer lace tank underneath. Black booties are a great choice with this look because they add a little edge and the stiletto maintains the overall feminine sexiness of the aesthetic. Britney didn’t add any accessories, which works for this look since the green is so bright, but you could, in theory, throw in some black, gold or silver accessories to add more oomph. I think this outfit is both cute, sexy, and fun.
