- Pretty much what I look like now, well give or take a few pounds.
I have always been a fan of any quick fix diet plan. If there was a pill that would melt away pounds within a day, I would be first in line to buy it. So when I was perusing the web one day and happened upon the Slim Fast website, I saw an opportunity and ran with it. After all it has ‘fast’ and ‘slim’ in the name, so how bad could it be?
Within the first day I realized this was going to suck.
First let me just explain to you what it entails. Everyday you eat three snacks that are 100 calories, Slim Fast provides snack bars and the website also offers healthy 100 calorie snacks of real food you can make yourself. Then you also eat two 200 calorie meals, both are provided by Slim Fast and you can choose between a shake or meal bar. Lastly you have one 500 calorie meal. It doesn’t seem too hard, right?

Since I started college a lot has changed. I went from doing all my class readings in advance to cramming them in right before the final.
I went from playing it safe with a cranberry vodka on the weekends to a nice scotch at the end of a particularly trying weeknight.
I went from crushing on different guys (all with the same bad boy attitude) to dating guys from all ends of the college major spectrum. In high school we were labeled by our extracurricular activities, from the football stars to the choir geeks to the French club sluts.
But in college, our majors are our labels. And because your major says a lot about you, I’ve decided to put my own major (journalism) to work and tell you which majors you have to date before you graduate.
The Music Major:
Because who doesn’t want to be a seriously smoldering musician’s muse? But before you cue the swooning, let’s dig a little deeper because, after all, with a musician, that’s what you’ll be getting: depth. Put the stereotypes of John Mayer and what he may or may not have done to Taylor Swift aside because while a musician tends to get a bad rep for being a bad boy, he’s more than your average player. He’s deep, insightful, genuine and not afraid to tell the truth. He’s the kind of guy that you can stay up all night talking to and never once think to check the time. He’s supportive and caring.
The catch? The usually shy and independent music major tends to keep to himself so you’ll probably have to make the first move but believe me, when he’s serenading you outside your bedroom window, you’ll be glad you did. Read More »

American Apparel is an awesome place to go for basics. I can’t even count how many t-shirts and tanks I have from there. And okay, I do own a few pairs of the shiny hot pants…but I can’t remember the last time I wore them (or maybe I can. Those things are priceless.)
But then there’s another side to American Apparel. All of that super shiny, super see-through, super fugly sh”t that I’m not really sure if anyone buys/pretty positive is not acceptable to wear in public. Here’s a few of the best American Apparel items that have ever hit the shelves.

Abroad Diaries, Madrid
Week 1: Pre-departure
September 3-11
Any sane human would start packing no more than two days before a trip abroad. However, I came to the conclusion many, many moons ago that I am a far cry from sane. Evidence for this claim includes my copious use of post-it notes (thank you Arthur Fry), obsessive addiction to sugar (how can anyone go without Swedish fish?), and, more relevant to the present matter, my compulsive need for advanced planning. One could say I started “packing” in mid-June. Why, then, has this past week been one of the most stressful of the year (a close third to finals week and The Bachelorette finale)? Even the most detailed lists of clothes, travel documents, and precise amount of Luna bars needed to see me through Ibiza could do nothing to quell my pre-departure jitters. Read More »

Whether he’s breaking hearts or breaking bottles, who doesn’t love a handsome bad boy prince on his birthday!? Celebuzz posted some smokin’ hot photos of our favorite ginger, so we figured we’d give you a few reasons why you should go look a them and drool and consider moving to England to kinda sorta maybe take to stalking him and then marry him (natch).
Move over, William, it’s time to celebrate and drool over the top five reasons we love Prince Harry!
1. He Gives Back
Taking after his charitable Mum, Prince Harry not only donates and advocates for unprivileged children, he is also co-founder of the charity “Sentebale”. The charity, which embodies his mother’s empathy for children affected by AIDs, is located in South Africa. “Sentebale” was, in part, created in loving memory of his mother and is translated as: “Forget Me Not.” Oh trust me Harry, we won’t. Guess what? I actually like this outfit.
Usually I pick something either undoubtedly ugly or something that divides me completely, but this week I decided to pick something that I personally really like but that I felt might divide people. I thought it might be more fun this way.
So this week I chose Keira Knightley’s ensemble at the Toronto Film Festival. Yes, it kinda resembles a doily, but I’m okay with that. I think what I love about this dress is even though I know it’s couture straight off the runway, it just looks so rustic and vintage. It looks like the kind of dress you would run your hand over and then pull off an over-crowded rack at a vintage store, hold up against yourself and feel as though you’ve won the jackpot. Let’s face it: whether attending college in person or taking college classes online, finding motivation to do anything besides furiously masturbate and eat Doritos can be the most daunting task of all. Even when your homework consists of connecting the dots, it’s usually easier to browse Reddit and smoke weed instead of doing anything that could be considered remotely productive. When facing the urge to waste away into nothingness, there are certain tactics which, if utilized correctly, can trick your brain into becoming a powerhouse work machine that will absorb your learning materials and pump out homework like a pregnant rabbit.
Just kidding.
There really is no trick to making work miraculously become ‘easy’ to complete. No amount of clever slogans will turn your attitude inside out or inspire you to barrel through twelve hours of work (unless you substitute ‘slogan’ for ‘ADD medication’). Motivation is as simple as understanding the concept of ‘do or don’t'; a thing gets done or it doesn’t get done. You do the work or you don’t do the work. That being said, taking certain steps can help make it easier to GIT ‘R DUN by a long shot. Creating a positive, inspiring environment for yourself can significantly increase productivity without even having to suffer thoughts of ‘what am I doing?’, ‘I don’t want to do this’, or ‘I should check the fridge for the 8th time in the past hour’. Here are some ways to help keep yourself motivated and performing well in those online college classes. Read More »

Ready to be shocked? The Lion King came out 17 years ago. 17 YEARS AGO. That makes me feel like I should already be in a retirement home. It seems like just yesterday Simba and Nala kept the Circle of Life intact. To celebrate the 17th anniversary, Disney is re-releasing the movie in theatres in 3-D. So, now we can all watch Mufasa die right in front of our tear-filled eyes all over again!
We can also see the word “sex” spelled out right in front our eyes…or so we think. Apparently the animators spelled “SFX”, which stands for special effects, as a signature of their work (egos much?). The movie was also going to be more of a National Geographic-style documentary (SO BORING) instead of a musical. Read More »
