This list could go on forever. By nature, girls and guys are opposites, and there is an endless list of things we disagree on. I mean, haven’t you ever read the book Men Are From Mars, Women are From Venus? I haven’t either, but I hear it exists. Point is, there are many things that don’t cross the barrier between girls and guys, and we here at College Candy would like to give you a little authority on the basics. Read More »
The crisp air is beginning to settle, leaves are changing, and small children every where are begging for one more day of summer. Yes, dear readers, it’s time for school.Which means one thing, well a couple but one main thing, back to school shopping! This week is College Fashion Week (#collegefashionweek if you’re Twitter-obsessed) and we’re celebrating with Boy Meets Girl® and Campus Candy at the Campus Candy store at Penn State (#psu) on September 18th. Why? They’re throwing an unforgettable fashion show with student models, Boy Meets Girl® gear, candy, and a meet-n-greet with brand Founder/Creative Director Stacy Igel. Can you imagine anything more college than spending Sunday night doing homework checking out fashion and eating candy? Oh, and asking a fashion designer for advice IN-PERSON?.We can’t. But we know that not all our readers go to Penn State. Fine, we know that the majority of our readers don’t go there. We didn’t want to leave you out of the fun though! So read on to find out how you can also get in on the fashion, food and fun.
When it comes to dorm life, it’s no news to you that closet space is something of a limited commodity. Even after you’ve gone like a mad woman through The Container Store and Target, those stackable units can only hold so much. It is for this reason that creating a well-rounded college wardrobe is such a precise science. There is literally no room for error.
So what are the items you’re going to find yourself longing for? The must-haves for successfully getting from Point A to Point B (with a pit-stop at the bar in between)? Read on and make sure you’ve got these college fashion staples…
1. A Comfortable Pair of Heels
Whether you toss them on for a class presentation or for a night of frat hopping, you’ll quickly find out that comfort is key. It’s so much easier to enter these situations confidently when you’re not worried about the pains shooting up your legs and the blisters on your toes. Plus, no one wants to be (or dance with) the cranky girl hunched in the corner complaining about her shoes.
You didn’t leave all your work until Sunday night did you? What!?! You did. That’s okay. No stress. You’ll get it all done. We’re so sure that you’ll get it all done that we’re giving you a few more excuses to procrastinate. This week we’ll let you swoon and drool over some boybands who wanted to be the next Backstreet Boys, but never really made it… at all. Hey, at least they can dance!
Today marks the 10th anniversary of 9/11 and we wanted to honor the tragedy by reflecting on our personal experiences about where we were and what we felt when we first heard about the attack. Several of our writers contributed their stories and we welcome you to share yours in the comments below.
I didn’t really understand what was going on — I was in the middle of a 3rd grade spelling test. I thought my little friend was totally feeding me shit — after all, what third grader can believe that something so big could crumble so easily? – Leah
I’ll admit, I love watching Say Yes to the Dress, Four Weddings and any show where they make insane wedding cakes. But the idea of actually going through with it all: The commitment to one person for the rest of your life, the lack of freedom, the planning of two lives becoming one..is my barf bag around here somewhere?
Sure weddings are fun to go to, and seeing people who are happily in love is great. But the whole publicly tying yourself to another person for the rest of your life, that’s the part I’m all set without.
It’s not like I watched my parents’ marriage fail or saw a lot of messy break ups when I was younger. Honestly, every single adult marriage in my life has been successful, it’s just not my thing.
This is another recipe adapted from the I Love Trader Joe’s College Cookbook. I love focaccia bread… I mean, who doesn’t? If I have the opportunity to make focaccia a little healthier to snack on, I go for it.
The original recipe from the I Love Trader Joe’s College Cookbook only had tomatoes and olive tapenade. it’s a delicious recipe, which I highly recommend, but after I made it, I wondered what other items I could add to make it healthier, but also more delicious. I settled on the idea that if you pile a salad on top of something, you are allowed to call it healthy. Even if that thing is a deep-fried hamburger or something.
Yes, the school year just started, but man am I already stressed out. Even if you’re not in college, life is stressful. There’s always some sort of stress factor. I went to the dentist this morning, and my conversation went something like this:
Dentist: Do you have a lot of stress in your life right now?
Me: Um, yeah I guess. Why?
Dentist: I can tell you’ve been clenching and grinding your teeth in your sleep, which usually comes from high stress levels. Would you like to get fitted for a night-guard?
Seriously, that happened. No, I’m not getting a night-guard. But stress is a problem, and it causes other problems like breakouts and lack of focus. I had the opportunity to test out three really cool products: Clearogen, no!no! Skin, and 21 Drops. Watch below! Read More »
