I’m Scared To Graduate

I got an email a few weeks ago explaining that we needed to apply for graduation before registering for the next semester. Um, what?! I don’t even know what classes I’m taking yet, and I already have to apply to graduate? Well, I did apply. And got a degree audit. And picked my final semester’s classes. Talk about scary. Thank goodness I’m not graduating in December like a lot of my friends because I still don’t even know what I want to do!

Let the freaking out about commencement commence.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m really excited to start my life in the “real world.” I imagine myself living somewhere amazing with cute decor and my dog, strutting down to the local coffee shop every morning where the hot barista will know my order and eventually write his number on my latte. A girl can dream, right? But I know that’s not the reality. I’m going to get a job, find a place that will need a lot of touching up and probably doesn’t have a doorman. I’ll work long hours and sleep less than I do now in college. I know all of that, the reality. But that’s not why I’m scared.

Why I Don’t Have a Facebook

It’s Monday, and I’m sitting through ANOTHER boring lecture, this one about how to properly treat our ‘residence halls’ (makes it sound so much nicer than the sweaty, dirty building it is, right?) and what could happen if we get caught inebriated (aka drunk, smashed, hammered, ‘slizzered’ wasted,  etc. etc.). Myself and the girl next to me let out an uninterested sigh at the same time, and we catch each other’s gazes and smile. Soon we’re talking about our dorm, and the freshman girl who got sent to the hospital on the first night of school for alcohol poisoning. Inside I’m cheering because I met another normal person. However I see the relationship hangs on the balance when she asks for my last name so she can add me on Facebook.

“Mmm, I don’t have a Facebook.” I try to say in the most positive light.

Celebrities LOVE Pumpkins

I carved a pumpkin a few weeks ago, not knowing that it would grow soft and moldy three days later. Carving pumpkins is my FAVORITE holiday traditions, and it seems like some celebrities love pumpkins too. When celebrities go to the pumpkin patch, they are obviously going to be photographed because it seems like there is only one pumpkin patch that celebs go to.

So while you’re carving your pumpkin this weekend, take a look at these celebs with their orange friends. Read More »

Intro to Cooking: Cheesy Pesto Chicken

Pesto. I’ve written this at least twice before, but…I love pesto. It’s literally one of my favorite things to make, eat and use in random recipes. Spaghetti feeling a little boring? Pesto. Sandwich need a little pick-me-up? Pesto. Plain chicken breast? Pesto. The best part? You can make pesto with any green veggie you want…except maybe iceberg lettuce (that’s be a little gross).

For this pesto recipe, I’m using tons of spinach — healthy, iron-filled spinach — and basil. Basil is extremely high in vitamin K, as well as iron and calcium. Basil is one of my favorite herbs and pairs really nicely with spinach and chicken.

Ready for a delicious chicken recipe that’s perfect for those chilly fall nights? Let’s get started.  Read More »

CC Beauty Live: Halloween From Your Makeup Bag

It’s almost Halloween, and I can’t wait! I’m not the biggest fan of the scary or paranormal, but I love the looks and excessive makeup. That’s the best part of this holiday. Well, besides the candy. It can be really tough to decide on a costume, especially being on a college budget. I don’t really want to spend eighty bucks on a slutty Marie Antoinette costume (okay I really do, but I can’t). You know what I mean though, sometimes it’s not worth the money you can spend on other things. Read More »

Cute Celebrity Kids in Halloween Costumes! [Photos]

Celebrating college in Halloween is awesome: scary movies, pumpkin schnapps brews, hooking up with someone who’s wearing a mask and taking the walk of shame in a slutty schoolgirl/animal/occupation/insert-costume-here outfit. But here’s one great thing you’ll be missing: really adorable kids in really adorable Halloween costumes. They’re small, they’re covered up, they ask you for candy and they get really excited when you tell them how cute they are. Kind of like some college boys you’ll see this year. Read More »

The Girls Next Door’s Bridget: Playboy-Inspired Halloween Costumes

Some celebs design fashion lines. Former Playboy girlfriend Bridget Marquardt, who showed us on E!’s reality show The Girls Next Door that she’s always been a little different from the rest, has launched her own line of Halloween costumes.

One Month Challenge: Apple-Pumpkin Fever, Week Three

Okay, I’m getting a little tired of eating pumpkin.

If I was just eating pumpkin all day long it might improve my chances of turning my skin a new shade of orange. Thankfully, that is not the case! [Editor's Note: Worst. Intern. Ever.] I’m allowed to eat other things/balance out the eating of pumpkins with apples and other tasty treats.

My recent favorite snack is toasted pumpkin seeds added to trail mix. This recipe is super easy and cost-friendly for those of us on a college budget. You’ll need to purchase any type of nut based trail mix (if you prefer to make it yourself, you’ll want to get pecans, almonds, and walnuts – but remember that nuts can run pretty expensive). The recipe I followed does involve a few outside ingredients but if you’re not interested in doing that, just ignore me for the next couple of sentences. Read More »

Snooki Launches Line of Tanning Lotions, Adds to Empire

This year, I’m gonna be Snooki for Halloween. Leopard minidress, butterfly “tramp clamp” hairclip, ten bottles of bronzing lotion and go-go boots. Add a can of hairspray in one hand and a drink in the other and I’m good to go! (Note: currently casting for my other half. You can choose from Vinny, Gionni or JWoww.)
