In Our Makeup Bag: Urban Decay Book of Shadows Vol. 4

Why This Should Be in Your Bag:

Palettes and sets are the most fun and exciting makeup products, in my opinion. You’re usually getting a great value and a convenient package of matching products.

Urban Decay is one of my favorite cosmetic brands. They make high-quality products, are always animal-friendly and have a great design aesthetic. The packaging and names of products are always funky and kitschy and, most importantly, what’s inside works! I’ve never tried one of their famed Book of Shadows, but am super excited about testing out numero 4!

How To Use It:

This palette comes with 16 shades of eyeshadows, a mini eyeshadow primer, a mini mascara and a full-size liquid liner! Talk about haulage! What’s unique about this palette is that it also comes with a mini speaker and QR codes that take you to videos of six looks you can create with the palette. You simply scan the code using a smartphone, insert the speaker into the headphone jack, place the phone in the holder and create your look. This is super unique – I’ve never seen another brand utilize technology quite like this, but I feel like many will hop on the bandwagon Urban Decay has started. Here are swatches of the 16 shadows and products! Read More »

Battle of the Tweet Queens

Our Most Influential Women poll (umm…have you voted yet?) has been causing quite a bit of controversy among our readers. We specifically noticed quite a bit of heated commentary when it came to deciding the most influential lady on Twitter. A few of you couldn’t figure out why Shakira was on the list (umm…almost 9.6 million followers!), while others were staunch in their decision to hand Lady Gaga the win. Don’t get us wrong, we won’t debate Gaga’s fierceness — seriously, we’re not looking to take a stiletto to the head — but take a moment and peep our other nominees one last time… Read More »

Who’s the Real Courtney Stodden?

October brings us creepy movies, creepy monsters and creepy couples. I am getting so sick of Courtney Stodden pretending to be a 17 year old when she looks twice that age. When she’s pulling stunts like this, I feel like she WANTS us to get sick of her. I don’t know why everyone freaked out over President Obama’s birth certificate.

I would much rather have Courtney Stodden’s birth certificate so I can finally see that she’s an old lady or a robot or any of these other things she is more likely to be than a 17-year-old girl. Read More »

Cosmo Says the Darndest Things: November Edition

OMG I LEARNED SO MUCH IN COSMO THIS MONTH.

Actually, the things I’ve learned in Cosmo are mostly a small collection of scientific studies a group of middle schoolers could have conducted and learned from. For instance, Cosmo reports that (according to a rip-roaring scientific study) love may actually be able to ease pain. Get THIS: In a “study” people holding hot objects reported feeling better when they were shown pictures of someone they cared about. Oh, really?

“Here honey, hold this scolding coffee pot with your bare hands. Ouch, that hurts? Just look at me! You will feel better!”

Oh, Cosmo. And then according to “recent research” eating fewer carbs reduces belly fat. Did you just fall off your chair? Get back on and keep reading. Read More »

When I go to class at 8 a.m. wearing no makeup, I don’t look good. It’s not fair that some celebrities look amazing even without makeup. They get to be a celebrity!

Why do they get to look good with no makeup on?? I’m so jealous. And I want you to be jealous too. So here, just take a look.

A Few Signs We’re Really Into You

Unfortunately, when it comes to girls there is no “She’s Just Not That Into You” book to prepare you for the art of the pick-up. The first impression can make or break you, and you certainly don’t want to embarrass yourself (or, worse yet, bruise that fragile male ego) by going after a girl who just isn’t interested. Don’t push too hard for a girl unless you are sure she wants it, and take it from me — if a woman likes you, you’ll know it.

Here’s how to tell:

1. We sneak a peak at you whenever possible. Most of us ladies don’t want to make it too obvious, so we’ll secretly stare at you. Whether it be from behind a computer in the library or from behind a book in class. Chances are, if we dig you, we’ll be trying to catch a glimpse of all you have to offer. If you just so happen to catch us, we’ll turn away as quickly as you can say 1-2-3.

The Ultimate Guide to Halloween TV

One of the best parts of fall TV is the fall Halloween specials. Apparently almost every.single.show. on TV is going to be doing a Halloween episode this fall. Maybe there will even be a Hoarders where the woman’s house is filled with candy corn and pumpkin seeds. Just kidding, her house will probably be filled with dead animals (cliche hoarder).

If you want to get in the Halloween spirit with your favorite shows, check out this sneak peak of upcoming Halloween episodes.
