The 19 Most Influential Women in the World

November 2, 2011     Posted in Celebrity, Headliners, Inline Gallery

We asked you who you thought were the most influential women in a variety of categories — from tween star to tweeter to the (surprisingly controversial) fiction author — and thousands of you had your voices heard. After tallying the votes, we were shocked to see who took home some of these Most Influential titles. However, it takes a giant fan base to sway the votes and it makes sense that influential ladies would be able to bring out the masses in their honor.

Get those battle axes sharpened, CC readers. We can already tell you’re going to have something to say about The Most Influential Women in the World (2011 edition). Take a look below to see if your favorites won…

This author has something to SAY about some of the most important issues of our time. You've heard of "historical novels"? She write "sociological novels" that help the reader to walk in another's shoes. She teaches empathy and morality.

Pam of Denver — you don't EVEN KNOW. You don't know. JK Rowling IS modern day literature. She invented me and my whole world, and for that I'm eternally grateful. What the hell did Jodi Picoult ever do for me? Nothing! She writes about rape and suicide and terminal illness. Ms. Rowling lifts us up to become the wizards and witches we were meant to be (well, not all of us…only those exclusive enough to get their letter to Hogwards *tee hee*).

Regardless. Your comment was out of line and unappreciated.

    Avada Kedavra!

Yeah I totally think JK Rowling got robbed. She got so many kids to start reading and learn to love reading. She created Pottermore recently, which encourages users to use the website WHILE reading the books, so she's encouraging people to use their computers (which most young people do ALL day) while reading.

I feel like Jodi's books are basically lifetime novels in print. She writes about controversial issues in small towns. CREATIVE! She won based on her fan base, not her talent or influence (and obviously writers can have huge fan bases and have little talent…Stephenie Meyer).

I liked Arianna Huffington the best on this list, a lot of people don't know who she is but she is a news GIANT.

And as much as I love Jennifer Aniston, I never bought a bottle of Smart Water because of her.
