Students erupt with cheer as the end of the semester is coming near. It’s getting quite chilly, but don’t skimp on your beauty routine, silly. I know winter is tough, and the cold is rough. But don’t be frightful, I’m here to make winter beauty delightful!
I wrote you all a poem. While it hasn’t necessarily been too cold down here in the south (as in it was 70 degrees last week), the nights are getting frigid. I can only imagine how it feels up north right now. Winter can be really harsh on your skin and hair, so I want to make sure you all have the proper means of keeping everything under control as the temperature drops. You’re not the only one having winter beauty issues, trust me. I feel all of your woes. My skin gets really confused between being oily and too dry. My hair dries out, but it’s not like I can walk outside with it wet #beautyguruproblems.
Anyway, I’ve been sampling products from Epicuren and Dr. Perricone MD’s Hypoallergenic Collection, which have ended up being perfect for solving my winter skin issues. I’ve also got some tips for your hair as well, watch below!
On my face: Painted Earth Pore Perfecting Primer, MAC Studiofix powder, Painted Earth Super Silky Butterfly Palette Mary Kay Lash Love mascara
On my nails: OPI Only Gold For Me

HA. Your frigid is probably like a warm day for me. Luckily in PA it hasn't been so bad, Halloween weekend it snowed though!
I definitely moisturize more during the winter and Carmex lip balm is on me at all times.

I'm typically good with the cold, but it's been so warm down here that when it hits the 30's at night we freak out haha. I love Carmex, great stuff for winter

I have a question- I am using a prescription for acne on my face (Retin-A) that is a topical gel, I am supposed to apply it at night and sleep with it on, then wash it off in the morning. I have a great moisturizing lotion I like to use, is it ok to use this during the day instead of at night? It is pretty heavy and sometimes makes me shiny if I don't wait a little while before applying make-up. My skin is very sensitive so I'm worried that having moisturizer and foundation and powder on my face might be too much… when do you think is the best time to apply this moisturizer? thanks!

Hey Sara, I always recommend using a moisturizer in the morning and at night. I use my heavier moisturizer at night and a lighter one during the day. Since you're using a retinol, it's especially important to moisturize because they dry out your skin. In the mornings I use Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel, which is really light. Also, using a moisturizer and then a primer under your makeup helps it last longer. I hope this helps!

My hair is normally really soft and lately it's gotten so dry on the ends. I recently got a hair cut and it's still dry. I dont straighten my hair or blow it dry ever. Or curl it. I even use a 15 minute therapy 3 times a week. What else can I do?

Hey Nicky, what kind of shampoo and conditioner are you using?

Currently I'm using Herbal Essence Tussle Me Softly but I do use Herbal Essence Voluminizing as well.

You might want to look into getting sulfate-free products. Herbal Essences and many other companies use sulfates in their products that can dry out your hair. L'Oreal has some great sulfate-free shampoo and conditioners around the same price range! I hope this helps!
