I love giving presents. I love the face people make when opening up the specifically picked gift, hearing the sounds of the wrapping paper tearing. I love the hugs and thank yous, the ‘Oh my god! You totally shouldn’t have (but I’m secretly really really glad you did)’s.

However, I hate the process you need to take to get there. I guess you could say I hate being thrown into a crowd of about 5,376.5 people all on the same mission. It’s like survival of the fittest except the contestants are fatter and will kill you to get the prize.

So, to help every other last-minute shopper out there, here are ten gift ideas that are sure to warm the hearts of the loved ones in your life. Or at least make them wince with an unappreciative ”Yeah, totally love it.”

      Love the s'mores maker! Never seen that! My go to gift is always a fitness class or credit towards the gym soemone is a member with or to a Pilates studio (Fuse Pilates is great in Dupont)

      This is a great list except for two of the options. I have been giving more soap gift baskets (is someone trying to tell me something?) because I'm the new friend and it gets kind of insulting. It's kind of like, "Well, I don't know you and I don't want to make an effort to find out what you might like and you must use soap…" Also, those credit card gift cards can have such strange fees and time lines, cash is a much easier option for the receiver. If you want it to look cute, decorate an envelop.

      I gotta go grab some gifts for my friends, but we all shop at the same stores and get each other really similar things! I need to think of some unique ideas…

      Bath and Body Works have holiday baskets or sets, that are already really cutely packaged and come with a bunch of things. Then it just says you want them to enjoy a relaxing shower and smell yummy, not necessarily saying "You smell!"
      If you go with a holiday scent, you can't really go wrong.

      And if you get a friend a gift card to their favorite store, it says that you know their taste. I think it's weird to give a friend cash, it screams last minute to me.

      I agree with you. I probably wouldn't be offended if it were a spa pack from Bath and Body Works, but I've gotten too many from Walgreens, which screams last minute and very little thought.

      And if you give someone a gift card TO their favorite store, kudos, BUT no one should buy one of those Visa credit card gift cards without a lot of thought. Odds are, at least from the ones I've been given, a good portion of the money comes out in fees. If you want to give them something that can be used anywhere, give them cash.
