Fudge and velveeta!? Ew!! Most of these sound pretty gag worthy (although fried apple pie is delicious, I must admit).

You don't get diabetes from a recipe – many factors affect it from heredity to lack of exercise and in some cases, diet. There are many people that can eat all her recipes and have no ill effects.

Well I DO Know about diabetes, and the truth is the vast majority of over weight people have it! Once they lose the weight so goes the diabetes…
In Paula Deen's case I'm very surprised she hasn't had a heart attack! However in the end we are all responsible for ourselves, if you are stupid enough to eat crap, you will be either dead or sick!

I'm sorry- what medical degree do you hold? You do NOT get diabetes from eating sweets! I am appalled that you are providing false information. Diabetes is a genetic illness. In some instances, it may be brought on early by obesity, but it is not caused by eating sweets.

Type 2 Diabetes is not all genetic folks. Lifestyle can play a big part.

"Eating too much sugar (or foods with sugar, like candy or regular soda) can cause weight gain, and if this causes a person to get too fat, it can lead to type 2 diabetes" -http://kidshealth.org
The title is not false they did say "Probably" and all that shit "Probably" did make here fat and we all know most fatty food has SOME TYPE of sugar in it. Sugar is just a simple carb.

You don't know everything, apparently. Yeah, obesity is a RISK FACTOR for diabetes, it does not cause it. There can also be a genetic predisposition. Many non-overweight people also have diabetes. There are ways to control it–diet, exercise, drugs, blood tests. I believe the current thinking is that it (type 2) is caused by repeatedly shocking one's insulin demand with high blood sugar so that eventually it does not respond so well. People predisposed toward it would be well advised to exercise, eat healthy and maintain a healthy weight. And yeah, avoid large servings of ice cream.

The author of this article probably sips on her diet soda filled with cancer causing chemicals, while eating her vegetables laced with pesticides and e coli. I will eat butter and natural fats any day over the foods injected with pesticides, chemicals and preservatives.

Not ALL overweight people get diabetes and not ALL people who have diabetes are overweight. My partner has diabetes and he is NOT overweight, he has never smoked and he exercises. Even doctors do not know why some people have diabetes and some do not.. As for the comment that once the weight goes so does the diabetes well that is absolute nonsense. I really wish that people wouldn’t make uninformed and ignorant comments it is very misleading and leads to the ignorance being spread,

I get what this article is trying to say but it's pretty low to put a picture of her riding a hot dog. That's pretty mean, there's no need for that. Yes she made unhealthy choices and has a cooking show but it's not like she's forcing people to make her recipes. It's all about CHOICES here people. She already got diagnosed with type 2, does she really need all of the mean and hurtful comments to go with it too?

Lilly, you are very considerate. Paula Deen's food habits is another person's mean attitude habits. Thank you for not judging Paula as harshly as the writer. Wow, I wonder what habits or bad choices that other people make?

I would like to comment on the "Pretty, young woman" that wrote this article. I think you are absolutely ignorant!
I recommend some more training in the medical or health field before attacking a subject like this again.

While it is no surprise that she has been diagnosed with diabetes, because of the food she makes. There may be a small silver lining to this. For someone so present in the eye of the public, who is a chef, to be diagnosed with diabetes; it may help public awareness for the illness. She recently agreed to be the spokeswoman for a diabetes company so maybe her story will help change some peoples's lifestyles.
