It seems to me that cell phone etiquette is a thing of the past for this generation. From libraries to public transportation, everyone is always on his or her phone and they’re always being very rude about it. As a misanthrope I find everything about society to be extremely irritating but overheard phone conversations really grinds my gears. Who’s with me? All of you? Ok!

Lets evaluate the top ten most annoying conversations to overhear and make fun of those guilty of them.

I'm pretty sure the person talking to the automated prompt is more irritated than you could ever be with their conversation -lol-

I understand being annoyed with someone talking extremely loud on their cell phones, but I think you are annoyed by just about any conversation people have on their cell phones in public. Lets be honest we all have to talk to an automated prompts, sometimes a cell phone call where someone is crying is because they just found out someone they knew died ( lets have a heart with that one). As for the others, I think people shouldn't be annoyed because frankly you shouldn't be ease dropping on their conversations. Its not that hard to ignore, trust me.

Agreed, but I feel like the appropriate thing is to take it somewhere more private. People on a cell phone crying in the bathroom, I have no issues with. People sitting in the middle of the library on the phone crying for extended periods of time, I do. If it's bad enough that you're going to cry for twenty minutes straight, i'm sure everyone would understand if you went home.

okay only two of those ones I understand completely which is the having a fight with your significant other and the sexual conversation one. Otherwise I think I’ve only heard maybe 4 of those types of conversations. && seriously, the crying one ? Give people a break… it isn’t always the person on the phone causing someone to cry, that person could be informing them of something very urgent. You have no tolerance for tears? well one day you’ll have to be making a phone call to someone that’s urgent & they’ll end of crying, what are you going to say, Man up you’re in public for god sakes don’t cry!… no you’re not going to say that. I honestly think you just don’t have respect for people. & the ringtones one, really? it’s that person expressing themselves, just like the way they dress or how they act, it’s another form of self expression.

Seriously, you sound like a person who talks on their phone in public A LOT and do not care who you are bothering with your many phone conversations. The next time you are gabbing away on your phone, look at the people around you. The dirty looks being sent your way are not that they are jealous that you are so funny, popular, etc. They are irritated at having to listen to your every word. Sometimes it is that hard to ignore, trust me.

I actually read an article once that said it is more annoying for us to hear a phone conversation because our brains have a harder time tuning out only one side of a conversation as opposed to two people talking to each other.
But I agree with you on all of these! And another thing, I work in retail and it's always so irritating when a customer comes up to check out and completely ignores me while they yack away on their cell phone. It just seems so rude to me.

If you can't remember your starbucks order with other people saying theirs you should probably get a Cat scan or MRI or something, because that is not a good sign.

On a lighter note there's some funny things overheard @ http://www.overheardwhat.com

    Girl: "You Smell..Use some deodorant"
Boyfriend: "I haven't got any so breathe through your mouth"

Guy: "I sold my iPhone beause 50% of people have one."
Friend: "Maybe you should sell your genitals too."

Guy 1 to Guy2: "Have you seen How I Met Your Mother?"
Guy2: "Have you seen how i met your sister?"
    :)

The word is eavesdropping…..not "ease" dropping. Otherwise I agree with everything else you said.
