Chris Brown Headlining Grammy Takeover Sweepstakes

January 15, 2012     Posted in Celebrity, Entertainment

Awards season is here! The Golden Globes are tonight and the Grammys are less than a month away. Needless to say, we’re totally excited over here. The Grammys are a more casual awards show featuring fierce outfits and stellar performances. They’re always a lot of fun to watch, and I am pumped about the first announced performers like Jason Aldean and Kelly Clarkson, Foo Fighters, Bruno Mars, and Nicki Minaj. It’s definitely going to be a great show.

However, I’m not too thrilled with the idea of Chris Brown headlining a week of Fuse TV’s Grammy Takeover Sweepstakes. This month long contest will send a winner and a friend to the 2012 Grammy Awards. They’ll also get to walk the red carpet and attend the official Grammy after party. Plus every week, they’re giving away a Grammy Nominee Music Pack. The sweepstakes is really cool, and it’s great that regular people like us have a chance to go to the Grammys and get all kinds of awesome perks. But they’re having these Takeover Mondays featuring nominated artists, and Chris Brown is the first one up.

I’m not going to go into some spiel about the Rihanna situation. He’ll be attending the show this year, which is the first time since 2009. There are rumors that he could be performing as well. I think he should be allowed to redeem his career, which he’s done a pretty okay job at so far. He’s a talented artist and dancer, that’s not a surprise. His behavior on the other hand makes publicists cringe. It’s not just his behavior from the past, either. In the past year, he’s had more than several accounts of serious anger issues and homophobic slurs.  It seems in poor taste, even though he’s a Grammy nominated artist, to have him headlining an event promoting the Grammys.

What do you think? Should Chris Brown be headlining Grammy promotional events?

I think he should. He did something horrible, but I think it's important for him to be forgiven. He's received a whirlwind of chastisement and shunning which was was well warranted. At the same time, he's apologized, tried to show remorse and worked hard to rebuild his image. Headlining the Grammy's is a rare opportunity that he shouldn't be deprived of.

I think as far as music goes Chris brown had a great year last year. I see no problem with him headlining the grammy promotional events. People deserve a chance to redeem themselves. And honestly bringing up what happened is not good for Chris or rihanna; I think they both just want to move forward.

When did he apologize or show remorse? Was it when he threw a chair out the window at ABC studios or when he named his album "forgiving all my enemies"

Did he anything besides what the courts mandated?

Let this man go on with his life. He has paid his dues. There are many people who have done wrong and no one talks bad about them, but the media has just put Chris in the mud for too many years now. It's time to let it go.Chris and Rihanna were very young and is still young and thing will happen, Young people get into it.
