I really love Sex and the City but really? I totally agree with the premise of this post. Everyone is always so in love with the cast's outfits (particularly Carrie and Samantha) and most of the time I don't get it. Though, I don't understand haute couture either so that might be my loss. I do enjoy Charlotte's outfits but that might be because I love her character's conservative, feminine style.

I think what makes her style so lovable is the way in which she wears the clothing pieces – with confidence. More than half those wardrobe choices are disastrous, yet she stands tall and always has a smile on her face and doesn't care what others say about her choices (not that the writers wrote it in anyways). Same thing applies in real life, wear anything with confidence and you wont receive any negativity (except from maybe some jealous d-bags! ;P)

Carrie Bradshaw, my idol! Well for one, you have to remember the series started in the late 90's, and that decade produced some interesting(ly bad) fashion. But Carrie is a fashion lover and embraces couture, and isn't all about looking normal or sexy, and I think every woman wishes she had the budget and confidence to do that. I also loved how she wore feminine and girly pieces; the outfits that seem too old but as young girls at heart we all still love. So she could wear a trash bad and I would love it on her!

These outfits are what MAKE Carrie Bradshaw. I love all of these outfits, especially "Hippie Mess"–but probably only because Carrie is wearing them.
I often times look at an outfit and say, "Ugh…Carrie could SO pull that off."

I was just watching season 4 and she has a strapless bra over her shirt.. I'm not sure how they thought of some of those outfits, but she pulled it off!

It was all about Carrie embracing the City, The designer items and making them her own. Samantha to me had more outfits I would have actually worn and Charlotte too. But Carrie's crazy ensembles made her iconic because after all fashion is about taking risks and adding your own personal touch well doing it.

I can't believe the polka dot dress is on here. Bad-muth Carrie Bradshaw all you want, but EVERYTHING she wore in the Paris episodes was flawless!

While there are some fashion mishaps here, you have to remember that she was put into the sparkly underwear for a fashion show. It's not like she wore that out on the street. The fur coat with the pajama pants was when she went to Miranda's at midnight on New Year's Eve, not an outfit she wore to be trendy. And the polka dot dress is fabulous. I agree with Jennifer–her Paris outfits were killer.

Really? I loved her paris outfits! The only thing I had a problem with is that horrid hat she wore when she got to the french hotel. It didn't suit her face shape at ALL and made her jaw look horridly jay leno-esque.
I agree most of the outfits are a bit questionable but when you are a true fashionista you don't dress for others, you dress for yourself.

Just so you know, the word you spell as "sheek" is spelled "chic". Also, yeah some of her outfits are questionable but like someone else pointed out,she dresses for herself, not others…I think even though I wouldn't wear some of the things she does, she is a great example of how it's okay to wear what you want and be who you want to be, as long as you're happy with yourself.
As Carrie says, " The most exciting, challenging and significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself."

I totally agree, I think her best outfits of the entire series were the ones she wore in Paris.
