SMASH Co-Star Raza Jaffrey is the Perfect Boyfriend

NBC’s SMASH, the new series that follows the production of a Marilyn Monroe musical,  boasted an impressive first night in ratings. It’s Glee meets Chicago in a fairly predictable way, so the mass appeal is no surprise. That said, there is talent on the show that extends beyond the cheesy plot line — some of the numbers gave me chills. But what, or who rather, I found most impressive was Raza Jaffrey.

Where did this boy come from? Surely he’s not the same butler from Sex and The City 2? McDreamy to the utmost degree, he plays Dev I’mtheperfectboyfriend. It’s cruel. No way in hell does this character exist in real life. On screen he is in a relationship with Katharine McPhee’s character, Karen Cartwright. To say he is adoring would be an understatement. Sexiness aside, he is a true lover dedicated wholly to supporting Karen and her dreams. When her parents come in town from Ohio and doubt whether her dreams of becoming a Broadway star will ever come to fruition, he defends her in the most gentlemanly way possible. Even her mom mouths at her to marry him! If for no other reason, check out the show so you can pretend that a man like this exists somewhere, even if he is only a character.
