Would You Let Chris Brown Beat You Up?

It was just over three years ago that we got news of Chris Brown’s assault on Rihanna. The chilling police report released just a month later detailed the few minutes of violence that will forever haunt Rihanna (and Chris Brown, for that matter). And yet, people, specifically teenage girls, have already forgiven Brown for this brutal violence. After the Grammys this Sunday, twitter was overflowing with tweets about Chris Brown getting an award for the Best R&B Album of the Year. While I expected tweets in disagreement with this award, the reality is quite disturbing. Tweets such as, “I’d let Chris Brown beat me up anytime” and “I don’t know why Rihanna complained. Chris brown could beat me anytime he wanted to” were going viral across the US and UK.
Keeping the details of this gruesome police report in mind, I immediately questioned the sanity of these girls. While I am sure that (the majority of) these girls don’t actually want Chris Brown to beat them, it’s still incredibly unsettling that they would even say such a thing. I know he’s talented. I know he’s attractive, but that never makes it OK to even touch a woman without her permission. I don’t care who he is. These tweets also raise the question of “what draws girls to someone who beats a woman?” I can’t overlook his past, but I’m assuming these girls are attracted to the mixture of his looks, talent, and bad-boy attitude that was only enhanced by the abuse. (Truthfully, I’d rather date the nice guy.) Some girls might be attracted to this, but I don’t think they are fully grasping the inhumanity of Chris Brown’s actions.
That said, I do not think that Chris Brown should be punished and exiled forever. People get angry and do stupid things. As long as he knows he made a mistake, gets help and works his ass off to be a better person, I think that he could be forgiven. Based on the way he has acted in the past three years, I don’t think this is in the near future, but I do believe in second chances. However, even if Chris Brown magically becomes a better person and moves on from this event, the tweets from this weekend are still inappropriate.
To the girls that are asking for Chris Brown to beat them: read the police report. I’m warning you that it’s gruesome and it’s cruel. If you don’t want to read the details, I will tell you now that you definitely do not want this happening to you regardless of how “hot” and “sexy” he is. I would never wish this on anyone and my hope for all of you is to have enough self-respect not to ask for something so emotionally and physically traumatic.
My final words: Go for the nice guy that uses his words to explain why he’s upset instead of his fists to show that he’s angry. I promise you’ll be much happier in the end.

While i dont, never have, and never will condone domestic violence on anyone no matter who the abuser is, i look past those tweets/comments as those coming from horney immature teenage girls and young women. Of they dont really want to be beat! Who in their right mind does?! But at the same time how long are we supposed to hold this young man’s mistake over his head? He was wrong, admitted he was wrong, served his punishment, and he and his victim are trying to move past it. The media truly does their job by continuing to rehash and keep unnecessary drama stirring!!

The law punished him Rihanna have forgiven him, ppl move on find something else to talk about. Let this man live his life. Have you ever heard of forgiveness, plus he did nothing to you why are you so angry? GET OVER IT. Live your own life and never beat up anyone. Lesson learned…

I agree. But, it's mainly a black thing. Blacks don't want to see their rich & famous black people exiled or put in prison EVER, no matter what they did! And that is just magnified by airhead, promiscuous, teenage girls. Ask nearly every black girl and they all totally blame Rhianna for the beating. Considering she likes rough, humiliating sex, Rhianna deserves some of the blame, but not ALL of the blame.

This is an argument that drives me crazy. What if you watched your neighbour beat the pulp out of his girlfriend on the front lawn. Punched her repeatedly in the face and body until the skin broke open, bit her, tried to strangle her and then walked away and left her bleeding and busted on the lawn. When she "forgives" him the next day and is back living with him the next week, do you have him over for a BarBQ? How about if he wants to date your daughter, your best friend, your aunt? I mean COME ON he just made a MISTAKE!! And his victim FORGAVE him. The thing that men like Chris Brown and his supporters don't seem to understand, is that when you commit a crime such as this one, the punishment of social opinion is determined by the public. That is the consequence of the action. He chose to beat the shit out of his girlfriend, and now he has to live with the public ridicule whether he likes it or not.

The media is not stirring this controversy. The court of public opinion has deemed that THEIR punishment of Chris Brown is not finished. Some of us are saying Enough to abuse against women. We are saying, We support Victims, not their abusers. If you do not decry the act you cannot constitute change.

Chris Brown is a scumbag and it's an atrocity that he stii has a career that enables him to be a role model. It sickens me. And Rihanna is an ignorant piece of garbage too…but she still doesn't deserve to be hit by a man.

It's a poor rationale for what the little douche bag did. Catholics did the same type of shit when they protected the child molesters among them. Liking rough sex is different than having somebody beat the shit outta you cuz you caught them in a lie. BIG DIFF !

Obviously many women do get trapped in these relationships and that's why they need to arm themselves, get training on the weapon and let every man that comes into your world what a great shot you are and they'll think twice and thrice, but woman abusers never change. So if you do bring one in, you'll probably end up having to kill him at some point so, why bother?
Especially celebrity ones like this douchebag who still get adulation and whopper paychecks no matter what the fu^^ they do to whom where and why, so why should they change? To 'better' themselves? LOLOL…..They'll always find some celebrity fame seeking ho to bang and beat on in no time.

Ha ving grown up us an Americam white Ex-Pat in the Carribbean and latin America–this type of abuse towards women is normal! That is not to say I condone it–but, Rihaanna surely grew up watching this sort of thting–if not within her family–certainly with those around her.
Fortunately, attitudes toward this type of viloence are slowly changing in the Carribean!! Perhaps, she has been conditioned through the environment she grew up in to be more tolerant and forgiving–food for thought??? I don't know–just a theory!!

chris brown is a douche and whats even sad is the fact that people still call what he did to rihanna a mistake. a mistake is when i drop a glass on the floor, a mistake is when i cut myself with a knife while making a sandwich, a mistake is when walk into a door from the shower. what that idjit did to the young woman is not a mistake but a case of a nutjob who wanted to feel superior because of his issues, and quite frankly such monsters dont deserve to called men hell if feels like an insult comparing this asshole to a dog. he should have gone to jail to learn his lesson.
