Sometimes it’s okay to spend the day on the couch with a brownie in hand, mope a little bit, watch The Notebook and throw a good ole’ “pity me” party.
However, when you start scheduling said parties every Monday and only inviting yourself, then it’s time to evaluate what’s really keeping you down. Maybe it’s your most recent break-up, or the fight you just had with your [now ex-] best friend, the fact that you got laid off from your job or maybe it’s because you can’t get a job. Whatever’s plaguing you, I’ve got some centuries old advice to share: Quit crying over spilled milk! And, as luck would have it, today is National Spilled Milk day…the perfect time to get over all the little things!
Grandmothers and mothers have been telling us for years not to get caught up on the things we can’t change, except they’ve cleverly wrapped up these great words of wisdom in a weird, gross and curdled (get it?) expression. So, what do you do when you spill the proverbial milk? You clean it. You wipe it up and dry it off before it starts to stink. I can’t blame mom and grams for their outdated sayings, let’s make it work in 2012: move on; get over it; what’s done is done; when the going gets tough, the tough get going…. whatever.
