Sundays Are For Procrastinating: Stripping It Down

Sometimes it feels like music is on a downward slope. Maybe I’m just not a fan of the type of music that is popular right now, but I miss the “rawness” of music from the past. I love when you can hear pure talent in the singer’s voice and feel the love they have for music. I don’t think the lack of this quality is a result of bad singers, however. I attribute it to the way the songs are recorded to sound like the singer has perfect pitch. Imperfection is what makes a song more real, though! That’s what I miss!
It’s for this reason that I love listening to acoustic versions of songs. It gives the musician the opportunity to sing the song the way they originally imagined it. Their voices aren’t perfect and that’s what I absolutely love about it. When given the choice between listening to a recorded version or a live one, I always go with live. It’s just better. Strip down all those production elements, take away the 435 accompanying instruments and sound effects…just give it to me straight. For your procrastination pleasure, here are some popular songs that, in my opinion, are better live and acoustic.

I agree with each and every one of these! Some of these like Starry Eyed have recorded versions that make for an awesome dance party but man, simplifying everything down to just acoustics and their own unedited voice makes for a better listen when you're just laying down and relaxing, at least IMO.
