The Lowdown on Ellis Faas Mascara [In Our Makep Bag]

What It Is: Ellis Faas Mascara in E401 (Black)

Why This Should Be in Your Bag:

Ellis Faas is a beauty brand from Europe that stands apart with their packaging. “All products will come in similar shaped pens that hold the liquid colours. Right from when Ellis started developing her first ideas about the brand, she wanted the pens to be inspired by bullets.” Bullets, eh? You’ve caught my attention! I really wanted to try some products from this exclusive line and decided mascara would be my first go.

Ellis Faas says this mascara “features a creamy texture that perfectly coats, lengthens and separates each individual lash and is well-suited for customising different looks.”

How To Use It:

The tube-bullet design works really well for mascara as it’s fairly normal to see mascara housed in a tube. I did find that it was slightly difficult to hold the wand, as the lid tapers so much, so beware! I swiped on two coats:

“Meh” is all I have to say about Ellis Faas mascara. I wanted to like it, I really did, but it just didn’t amaze me. The concept it SO cool and I love the sleek, European design aesthetic, but as far as the actual product goes, I wasn’t wowed.

My usual mascara is $19 a tube, and while that’s pricey, it lengthens, darkens and volumizes my lashes. For a tube that is almost double that price, I expect quite a bit more: dramatic lashes, super thick volume and an intense, black pigment. This mascara really didn’t deliver on any of these and while it was fine for everyday, I did expect more. If this was a review of a drugstore mascara, it would score a B+, mainly because I don’t anticipate a stellar performance from them.

At $34 a tube, I’d take it or leave it. If you’re curious, Ellis Faas products are available on their website!
