Jacob has topped the most popular baby name chart for a  solid 13 years!  So what was it 13 years ago that made women everywhere want to name their sons Jacob?

Jake Gyllenhaal turned 18 and landed his first lead role in ‘October Sky.’ This is no coincidence, people. What girl doesn’t want their little boy to grow up as smart, beautiful and successful as Jake Gyllenhaal? Jake started acting at age 10 and studied at Columbia University until he had to leave school to pursue is acting career full time. And have you seen him shirtless? There is no doubt in our mind that Jake Gyllenhaal single handedly caused  the Jacob name epidemic, and it’s still spreading. As tribute to the cause for such a cultural phenomenon, here are 15 of our favorite pictures of Jake. Enjoy!

I think twilight has something to do it. Young women might be drawn to the name because of the movie but once they discover it is a biblical name that is very meaningful it might make it that much more special.
