College isn’t hard having a roommate is, even a suitemate. Of course it’s easy to be say “keep the common space clean” but there is always one person who leaves shit everywhere or doesn’t clean up in general even though they swear they do.
What should be added to the list is 1. Don’t let your boyfriend/girlfriend disrespect the people that pay to live wherever you stay. I don’t know what it is about me and the boyfriends of my roommates but they are so disrespectful which has caused screaming matches and even physical altercations. It is never okay, especially if you don’t pay to live there. 2. Take turns cleaning the bathroom. I’ve dealt with a roommate who never cleaned the bathroom and I just don’t feel I need to tell a young adult in college to clean the bathroom. I’ve also been into too many disgusting bathrooms. People should be embarrassed. 3. Clean out/wipe out the washing machine and clean the lint out of the dryer. Simple tasks.
I could probably go on for days but I’d rather not. Great post thiugh

I can't stress number 7 enough–my roommate had a boyfriend who went to the same college as we did and he practically moved in with us towards the end of the semester, staying over every night sometimes for 5 days in a row. And with how small our room was that was not okay, on top of the PDA thing. A kiss hello or goodbye or hand holding i'm fine with but don't go making out not even 2 feet away from me.
