Is It Cool to Date Younger Men? [Photos]

In high school, I always thought my “cool factor” would totally increase if I was dating an older guy. The older they were meant the more sophisticated they were, the more worldly, the more experienced…you get the point. Well, it looks like the roles may now be reversing. It seems like lately more girls are dating younger guys. All of a sudden, it’s not only divorced celebrities preying on younger, attractive models or actors, but everyday people, even teens, are taking part in this trend too!

Yeah, yeah, the more moral part of me says who cares who people date as long as they have feelings for each other, get along and have fun? But then again, why is this becoming such a sensation?  Is it because older girls feel they can’t attract someone their own age, do they feel as if they have exhausted or used up all the good options, or is it more based on power? Typically, in high school at least and even in college, the older half of the couple is looked upon as having more experience, more pizazz, more wisdom, and therefore, more control in the relationship. Is that what girls are looking for now? Do they only want to have the upper hand in the relationship?

It seems as though the perks of having a younger boyfriend may just make the relationship what it is. The girls are treated with more respect, more reverence. There’s not as much pressure to impress the “older, cooler guy”, and instead, the younger, less experienced boy is trying to impress the “older, cooler girl”.

Maybe this media sensation just gives girls a sense of empowerment.  They begin the relationship by wearing the pants, by having the boy look up to them, and snatching them up before high school or college makes them the typical cocky frat star.

As if this wasn’t already a growing sensation for teens, celebrities take this phenomenon to a whole new level.  You’ve heard what i thought, but now, take a look a these leading ladies who have dated younger men…
