[BREAKING] Shooting Near Auburn University
Update: According to Fox 6 Alabama, police chief Tommy Dawson has “listed the names of the deceased as Ladarious Phillips, 20, Edward Christian, 20, and Demarco Pitts, 20. He confirmed the names of the injured as Xavier Moss, age 19, John Robertson, 20, and Eric Mack, 20. Moss was treated at East Alabama Medical Center and released, Mack is still in the hospital and John Robertson was in critical condition and undergoing surgery at the time of the press conference, Dawson said.”
“Investigators have identified a suspect in the shooting: Desmonte Leonard, 22, of Montgomery. Three capital murder warrants have been obtained against Leonard. Multiple law enforcement agencies are actively searching for Leonard in the Montgomery area.”
A shooting occurred late last night at University Heights in Auburn, Alabama near the Auburn University. Police say that a fight broke out at the pool that escalated into a shooting leaving three dead and two more injured. According to reports, the fight started over a woman: “’It was about a female,’ Vines told the AJC Sunday morning. ‘It started from a female. We were trying to get away from the trouble and it ended up right in our face.’ The party ‘went from us chilling with all these females to a massacre for no reason at all,’ Vines said. ‘It happened so quick, in about a second.’”
Some reports have said two former Auburn football players were killed, but this has yet to be confirmed. The number of people shot is unknown. The university is directing all calls to the police. There will be more information as this story unfolds. Our thoughts are with the Auburn community.
