Remember being a kid in summer? Camp brought new friends, cute boys, and great memories that many of us still hold dear today. Like a summer camp ‘Romeo and Juliet’, ‘Moonrise Kingdom’ tells the story of two kids who fall in love and run away, only to have the town and mother nature against them. The cast includes big names such as Tilda Swinton and is set in New England. With a plot about a town trying to stop young love, it’s the perfect summer movie, and College Candy has the perfect giveaway to go along with it!

Moonrise Kingdom is the new movie directed by two-time Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Wes Anderson (The Royal Tenenbaums, Fantastic Mr. Fox, Rushmore).

Set on an island off the coast of New England in the summer of 1965, Moonrise Kingdom tells the story of two 12-year-olds who fall in love, make a secret pact, and run away together into the wilderness. As various authorities try to hunt them down, a violent storm is brewing off-shore – and the peaceful island community is turned upside down in every which way. Bruce Willis plays the local sheriff, Captain Sharp. Edward Norton is a Khaki Scout troop leader, Scout Master Ward. Bill Murray and Frances McDormand portray the young girl’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bishop. The cast also includes Tilda Swinton, Jason Schwartzman, and Bob Balaban; and introduces Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward as Sam and Suzy, the boy and girl.

    Moonrise Kingdom is not only my favorite camp story, it just beat The Royal Tenenbaums as my favorite Wes Anderson film!!! I loved it so hard!!!!

    I was a counselor one year and had a cabin full of 7th grade boys. One morning I woke up to a staff member knocking on the door telling us it was time to get up. This was weird because they usually rang a huge bell mounted in a steel frame tower. As soon as the staff member left the boys started laughing. It was then that I noticed that 4 of them were missing their sleeping bags.

    As we walked to the dining hall we watched as the maintenance crew climbed the tower with knives and scissors. Someone had climbed the tower in the middle of the night and wrapped it in sleeping bags and duct tape to keep it from ringing. I just kept walking and tried not to laugh out loud.

    My favorite camp story is from when I went to camp as a young girl. Everyday a different bunk would win the award for having the cleanest bunk. After not winning for a couple nights, we decided to clean our bunk from top to bottom to ensure that we would win. Well we still didn't win the next day. We were angry and didn't understand why, so the next day we trashed our bunk, throwing dirty clothes everywhere and hanging our bras on the walls. We really did it just to get back at the camp, but low and behold, we won the very next day! We were pretty excited about it, even if it didn't make any sense!

    After 90% of us campers snuck out of our bunks at midnight, the counselors swiped all our sleeping bags and took them to a common room where we each had to go retrieve our beds and face the music. Hilarious!

    By far, skinny dipping in the lake after hours was my favorite camp memory! Seriously, nothing is better!!! (other than “misplacing” the rival camp mates’ clothes..another good story :) )

    awesome giveaway! My favorite camp story is simple. I became obsessed with tennis and finally went away to tennis camp where 4 year olds were better players than I was, but I will always remember that summer and how proud I was of myself that I stuck it out, ran through the fields with no shade and tried my hardest. Cheesy I know!

    My favorite camp memory was hanging out with my koala mama (long story) and my friends. Since my camp counselor was never around i would hang out with her (koala mama). I moved away from my friends and that was the only time I could see them.

    My favorite camp memory had to be movie night. Everyone, from the six year olds, to the sixteen year olds would all snuggle up as we watched the princess diaries. Then everyone would sprint to get to the cookies first before lights out.
