Detachable, dip-dyed, lace, studded; collars are a huge trend this summer. You can find ornate detachable collars in stores but they tend to be pricey, so the best way to hit the trend is to either make a collar style necklace yourself from scratch, or just customize the collar of a shirt you’re getting bored of. The bolder the collar, the better, so any detail you want will look great, but for collar newbies try something a little more neutral that you can style with anything. This pearl studded collar is really feminine and simple, and can be easily worked into your wardrobe. Plus it’s quick and simple to make!
What you’ll need:
- An old shirt with a collar; a white/cream one works great, but a pastel shirt would also be really pretty!
- Pearl style studs or beads
- Jewel-It glue
What to Do:
Place your pearl studs in neat lines across the collar of your shirt – if you’re worried about keeping everything straight just mark out where you want your studs to go with a pencil. Always start on the edge of your collar, and maybe test out the placement of all of your studs to make sure they fit properly. Next apply a drop of glue to each stud, and apply to the collar straight away, pressing each one down firmly. Continue pressing down each glued stud onto the collar until your entire collar is covered, then leave overnight to dry. Done! Now you have an on trend, really cute new shirt; make sure you wear it buttoned to the top to show off your handiwork, and don’t add any jewelry – the collar will work as an accessory on its own.
