CC Beauty Live: Spa At Home-DIY Vanilla Scrub + Giveaway!

July 15, 2012 11:00 am     Posted in Homepage Exclusive  Caitlin Corsetti g+ page

Welcome to another edition of CC Beauty Live’s Spa At Home! These are some of my favorite segments because I know how tough it can be to afford treatments on a college budget. Exfoliating is one of the most important procedures in getting soft, smooth skin. I like making my own body scrubs since I can pick exactly what goes into it. You can control everything, which is really great especially if you have sensitive skin. This week I’m showing you how to make a vanilla scrub that smells divine and is perfect for scrubbing down knees, elbows, or whatever needs attention!

Anddddd we’re having a giveaway! The folks from Palmer’s have sent over some of their favorite summer products, which are essential for getting soft skin! One lucky winner will receive Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Massage Lotion for Stretch Marks, Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Massage Cream for Stretch Marks, Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Skin Therapy Oil, and Palmer’s Moisturizing Lip Balm with SPF 15. The winner will be chosen through a random number generator and announced next week!

Watch below for instructions and details on how to enter!

On my face: MAC Prep + Prime, MAC Studiofix in NC35, NARS Multiple in Orgasm, Lancome Doll Lashes mascara

On my nails: Ulta pink polish with heart in Ciate Mistress

In my hair: Amika Oil Treatment, DIY surf spray

i use ground coffee mixed with my regular shower gel for exfoliating. i would recommend to use fresh powder, because the one you already made your coffee with tends to mold fast and you dont want that on your skin. i would also recommend to clean the shower right after exfoliating because the coffee can stain your shower.
this peeling leaves your skin really soft, but you should use a bodylotion afterwards since there is no oil in the peeling. also the caffein gets softens cellulites (or atleast thats what i tell myself). you should try it! and since you dont even have to buy anything (if you use ground coffee at home) there is nothing to lose.

I love using coffee grounds, Anne! It smells wonderful and definitely can wake you up if you use it in the morning :)

I am a huge fan of Dove body washes. They really prevent my sensitive skin from drying out even in the dead of winter. I also use a home made sea salt scrub with olive oil a few times a week to exfoliate. And of course a good moisturizer and body lotion help out too!

I haven't tried making anything/using things from around the house to keep my skin soft but here is what I use:
    Face: St Ives Apricot Scrub
Body: Suave Nourishing Exfoliating Body wash
and of course I use lotion twice a day! (Curel Continuous Comfort)

The coffee thing sounds really neat though, so I might have to try that!!

I love the scent of vanilla! Your scrub sounds wonderful! I recently read about a grapefruit sugar scrub that I am also dying to try! :)

I always drink plenty of water, eat lots of vegetables, and try to avoid getting sunburnt!

I make sure to always drink plenty of water to not only to live a healthy life, but to have my skin always moisturized. I also think one of my best secrets is to moisturize as soon as a get out of the shower when my skin is still wet.

I drink 8 glasses water a day, regular exercise, moisturizing body wash, and plenty of sunblock all year round

ooh have never tried making body scrub before! Will give it a go, it's probably way cheaper than buying ready made

It's so much cheaper! I save a ton of money and you can always use real fruit juice from stuff in your fridge.

    Drinking water is so important!

Kelsey, I do this too! Your skin sucks in so much more lotion if you put it on right after you shower.

I typically drink lots of water every day, and I've been experimenting with various exfoliating body washes. Right now I haven't settled on a favorite brand, though I'm hoping to find one soon. Any suggestions?

For my face I use my beloved mia clarisonic brush! I've had it for about 7 months now and don't know how I lived without one before!! Then I use a food mask made of avocados! Super moisturizing and refreshing. Followed by a liberal application of face lotion :0)
For my body I also got the clarisonic body brush head (wider)! It works wonders. My aunt sells products for beauty control and has loaded me up with a wide variety of products. One of which is an exfoliating body scrub. I use that about once a week. My every trick to smooth skin is aveeno lotion. I have applied it everyday for a least the past 8 years and I can attest that it is one of the best products out there!!!!

Hi! I just wanted to ask if you ever have any trouble with hackers?

My last blog (wordpress) was hacked and I ended up losing months

of hard work due to no backup. Do you have any solutions to protect against hackers?
