10 Things You Didn’t Know About Aly Raisman and Gabby Douglas

I’ll admit it, I got pretty emotional when Jordyn Wieber didn’t make it through to the final. It was a massive shock and disappointment, especially as despite coming 4th, Jordyn won’t be allowed through simply due to the fact that each country is only permitted to send two competitors through to the finals. The worst part was watching Jordyn’s reaction. It was obvious that everyone expected her to win, including Jordyn herself, and it sucks that she didn’t get through simply because her team-mates performed better.

But while Jordyn’s results were seriously depressing, we can’t forget the two team members who did go through to the finals: Alexandra (Aly) Raisman and Gabrielle (Gabby) Douglas, two amazing athletes who deserve success and support. Gabby has been described as the best tumbler in the world, while Aly is frequently praised for her consistency under pressure. But there are some things you might not know about our two Olympic finalists. Did you know that Aly loves doing ‘hot yoga’, or that Gabby’s sister had to persuade their mom to let Gabby learn how to do gymastics? Here are 10 things you probably didn’t know about two incredible members of the American Olympic team:

I LOVE these two girls… if they do well in the next couple days, Aly's dream of designing a leotard line might just come true.

That's why it's called a COMPETITION! The best performers go through, not the most expected – duh!

why is Ally Raisman first, and I'm seeing alot of articles where they pair both of them. Gabby Douglas is the fourth US gymnastt to bring home the All-Around Gold medal since Mary Lou Retton in 1996. Can anyone remotely remember who won the Gold medal vault or beams when Mary Lou Retton bought home the gold.

It was a good accomplishment for Gabby shouldn't have to share the spotlight with her.
