Kate Middleton Is Preppy and Peppy [Celebrity Chic on the Cheap]

While The Duchess Formerly Known As Kate Middleton has excellent style (some may some boring, I say classic), it does have a tendency to be a little…monochromatic. You can pretty much count on her being out and about in a tailored dress, a sleek coat, a feisty hat, and pumps. Having a signature style is fabulous, but it can be fun to switch it up. Kate attended an Olympic event in an ensemble that is a lot more casual than the public is used to seeing from her, but she still looked as polished as ever.

It’s rare that you see a celebrity deciding to go uber-preppy, so I was immediately drawn to this outfit. A simple white polo is an excellent piece to have – it’s super versatile and timeless. Paired with some vibrant royal blue skinny jeans, this elevates the ensemble to flashy and on-trend. Black espadrilles are the perfect compromise between flip flops and stilettos – they give you plenty of height while being a little more comfortable. This is the perfect ensemble for a casual day excursion.
