Whether we’re ready to admit it or not, we’ll be back on campus in no time. Everyone knows that back in the day the best part of summer’s end was back to school shopping. New clothing filled you with hope for the Best Year Ever and you would beg your parents for the coolest Lisa Frank folders ever.

But, now that back to school means back to an entirely different zip code sometimes it also means some new decor. Plus, you’ll probably be invited to (or throwing) some pretty awesome end of summer parties. This craft has got you covered on both fronts. Whether you want to make your room look like Candy Land or wow everyone at an end of the year bash, these DIY candy lights are sure to do the trick.

What you’ll need:

  • Corsage boxes
  • String of lights (I think colored lights would be especially fun)
  • Scissors
  • Wire or pipe cleaners
  • Different colors of cellophane
  • Tape

What to do:

Cut a piece of cellophane in an 18″x8″ rectangle. Wrap the string of lights in the cellophane, but make sure enough of beginning and end of the lights are left out (you’ll need to connect them to a power source/next piece of candy).  Put the light package into the corsage box. Wrap the box in an even bigger piece of cellophane, leaving enough on each side for the wrapped candy shape and tape down. Twist the cellophane on either side of the corsage box (in the shape of candy) and fasten with the wire/pipe cleaners. Leave lights between each piece of candy, and repeat until he strand runs out. Plug in and enjoy!
