The internet is an awesome place for so many things, like learning new skills, watching movies, shopping, catching up on celebrity gossip, finding delicious recipes, playing games, and so much more — but sometimes I just need something that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
Dear Photograph does just that. The premise of the site is simple, inviting people to “take a picture of a picture from the past in the present.” People submit their old photos (for example, of the first day of school or at a birthday party) along with a straightforward — but nonetheless meaningful — caption that describes the significance behind the photo.
Despite this simple premise, the effect is pretty amazing. Often, you’ll see more somber photo caption combinations of people who have passed away since the original photo was taken or places that have changed, while others are funny or heartwarming. Either way, Dear Photograph will make you smile (and maybe even cry a little).
The site, which is just a little over a year old, has gotten so popular, there’s already been a book published — and a mobile app is even in development!
So if you’re in the need for something nostalgic and inspiring, give Dear Photograph a look!
